Software Engineer at Ampère | Ex-Nokia

Just like many other Vietnamese students, Pascal was the first programming language I learned, Turbo Pascal was my first IDE. Even after all these years, I still find Pascal to be one of the most beautiful languages. Its syntax is elegant, clear, and natural. program Goodbye; begin writeln('Goodbye, Niklaus Emil Wirth. RIP.‘); end.

Global Field CTO. How can I help you on your way?

We lost a titan in our industry. Niklaus Wirth passed away on the 1st. He created the first language I learned, Pascal, as well as Algol, Modula, Modula-2, and several others. Software is in a weird place. In some ways it's obviously in its infancy. It hasn't been around long enough to really venerate the greats with the exception of a handful of names like Turing. But we stand on the shoulders of giants and our ability to interact is because of the work of men like Niklaus Wirth.

Pascal is also the first language that I learned, which taught me the first steps in the programming world. RIP Niklaus Wirth
