When seeking funding, individuals and organizations within underinvested rural communities and Native nations often need to adopt and adhere to specific language, processes, practices, and measures of success to conform to funder expectations and systems. But what if these systems were flipped? What if these funders—who are, after all, supportive of projects tailored to community needs—learned to understand the language, processes, practices, and priorities of people in those communities? A new report by the Aspen Institute Community Strategies Group focuses on precisely that. The report highlights how two very different organizations—the Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Agency National Environmental Justice Advisory Council—are learning to work in true partnership with the communities they serve. Good article from The Colorado Sun about how last week's Supreme Court decisions are going to impact environmental policymaking in the coming years. Both the Chevron case as well as the EPA good neighbor case that came down turn up the pressure and raise the stakes for environmental advocacy. I'm still digesting but more thoughts to come on this soon....and please share more resources below if you've stumbled across some additional good insights. https://lnkd.in/gJxRcFQM

How should you approach #environmentaljustice when working with #superfund, #CERCLA, #RCRA, and #brownfield sites? While each site and project require unique expertise, there are some universal considerations that all stakeholders should understand. Ramboll Principals Alma (Cardenas) Feldpausch and Scott Shock have published an article with the American Bar Association detailing how to navigate environmental justice under these national regulations. #proactiveej #sustainability https://lnkd.in/dvKPPC8T
