Pandas-V® in Action This video clip shows the Pandas-V® camera capturing one of the events which require swift notification to the key stakeholders. Synchronisation of the camera with pantograph mounted wireless accelerometer delivered of the most advanced OLE monitoring solution to the rail industry of tomorrow. Bird strikes with the bird falling to the pantograph well are not uncommon and they need to be swiftly inspected for any damage. When a bird falls into the pantograph well of a train, it can lead to a short circuit. This occurs because the bird's body creates a conductive path between the high-voltage overhead wire (in this case 25 kV) and the train's roof. As a result, a large discharge current arcs through this path. The immense energy involved in this arc can erode or blow a hole in the train's roof. This phenomenon is characterised by a high-voltage arc discharge causing significant physical damage due to the intense heat and electrical energy. By designing the Pandas-V® camera from the ground up and embedding high level of computing power for edge processing and machine learning, we have delivered self-learning and future-proof tool for the rail industry of tomorrow.
