Exciting day at the Association for European Transport (AET) European Transport Conference! 🚀 I had the opportunity to present on leveraging mobile network data to unravel the complexity of trip chaining in everyday travel. By combining mobile network data with weblogs, we can dive deep into understanding how trip chains and personas provide invaluable insights for modelling and analysis. Thank you Elena Golovenko Tim Beech Tim Rains and Alfie Long for your help producing the paper. While tackling the challenges of complexity and privacy, these insights open up new avenues for innovation in transportation. Did you miss the Conference this year? We will be publishing a blog with out latest findings on how Mobile Network data can support trip chaining shortly! How can better data-sharing practices advance multimodal mobility? How to implement EU data exchange standards to advance smooth cross-border travel? And how can you ensure the quality of your data? These were central questions in DATA4PT project, the EU funded project that launched in 2020. Under the helm of UITP and with ITxPT as Technical Lead, DATA4PT’s mission was to support EU Member States with the deployment of harmonised #PublicTransport data standards, creating a seamless door-to-door travel ecosystem across Europe that covers all mobility services. On 15 May, DATA4PT is organising its Final Event, where we’ll hear from EU Member States, transport operators & authorities, and implementing bodies how the project has supported them and the way forward ensuring data at the heart of the public transport system. The event will be held during IT-TRANS. Seats are limited, so make sure to secure your spot. https://lnkd.in/eMpektSG IT-TRANS - Intelligent Urban Transport Systems

IMT will be present at the final event of DATA4PT in Karlsruhe, which will run parallel to IT-TRANS 2024. More than 4 years later, the PSA DATA4PT project is coming to an end, but the path toward standardizing European standards will continue. We hope that the standardization of European public transport systems will persist, aiming to provide more and better services to our fellow citizens. Our directors, Marco Littig and Gustavo Wagner Nunes Balieiro, are attending the International Mobility Data Summit 2024 in Montreal, Canada. Currently, Balieiro is on stage, participating in a panel on global strategies for data-driven transit projects serving the public interest. The MobilityData Summit is happening today and tomorrow, October 30 and 31, and is dedicated to mobility, emphasizing the importance of standardized and high-quality information to build a sustainable future in transportation. The goal is to discuss and enhance solutions for public transportation, promoting the adoption of standards like the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS). For Bus2, attending a convention of this magnitude is not only a networking opportunity but also a chance to present our editor to other public transit agencies, shared mobility providers, policymakers, municipal authorities, and standardization experts. #MobilityDataSummit #GTFS #publictransport #urbanmobility #transport #buses"

Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in the first Irish Transportation Roundtable, bringing together key stakeholders from across the Irish transportation landscape. It was an invigorating experience to witness the passion and dedication of everyone involved, as we engaged in open dialogue, sharing challenges, ideas, and insights. The transportation sector is undeniably complex, with the constant demand to synchronize operations with the availability of resources like rolling stock, transport plans, skilled staff, and infrastructure, all while prioritizing customer satisfaction. Navigating through a hybrid landscape of on-premises and cloud applications, legacy systems, cutting-edge new applications and new SaaS platforms presents its own set of challenges. One of the focal points of our discussion was the role of artificial intelligence in supporting these transformative efforts. AI holds immense potential to streamline operations, optimize resource allocation, and enhance decision-making processes in the transportation industry. From predictive maintenance to route optimization, AI-powered solutions can revolutionize how we address the myriad challenges we face. As we continue to navigate the complexities of the transportation landscape, collaboration and AI supported innovation will be key. Special kudos to Nigel Cunningham and the Irish team for organizing this event. Looking forward to the following edition! #Transportation #AI #Innovation #Collaboration #IrishTransportation #RoundtableDiscussion
