As a new dad taking his family to the 🌊☀️ for the first time, I knew my career in logistics would eventually pay off outside the 4 walls of my office. Picture this: A beautiful day at the beach, a baby in tow, dozens of toys & snacks needing to find their way from the condo to the sand, a brisk wind, and an old, rickety beach tent ⛱️🏝️staring up at me from a ripped bag — daring me to set it up; No mallet, no shovel, and absolutely no experience. Just dad vs beach tent. Challenge accepted: I took on the ultimate test of my logistics and critical thinking skillset. Now, take a look at that tent. No, not the perfectly constructed, symmetrical, well-staked one…I’m talking about the one on the left that is perfectly imperfect. Yep, that’s the one. That there is mine. Setting up that tent - with just my wits, the judgy couple walking the beach with a cookie-brown tan, a borrowed toy shovel from a feisty young lady building a sand 🏰 a few tents over, and determination - felt like my Super Bowl.
