Happily in the transit of now - This is the third and final part of a poem about paying attention to where we are, rather than we want to be, or have been. When we do, we may notice that being in the moment is at least as satisfying than reminiscing about the past or dreaming about the future. Year yea! Hear yea! Now on this February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of prognosticators, Was awakened from his wintery nap at dawn, On Gobblers Knob. Phil looked to the skies, and then, Speaking in Groundhogese, Directed the President to the proper scroll, Which reads: Another winter slumber paused, so I could meet the crowd, It’s hard to sleep anyway when the party is this loud. I envy your energy, I envy the fun. I envy all of you and your opposable thumbs! But it’s not what I feel, it’s what I see, and what you hear, So gather round and let me be clear. Atmosphere is a wonderful thing, And we can create our own, and the weather it brings. It brings hope for the future and so much more, (Maybe some Punxsutawney Phil write-in votes in 2024). But what this weather did not provide Is a shadow or reason to hide! Glad tidings on this Groundhog Day, An early spring is on the way! #groundhogday #groundhogday2024 #everydayisgroundhogday #PunxsutawneyPhil #EarlySpring #Engineering #TransportationEngineering #CivilEngineering

"I got 99 problems but completing my Big Rocks ain't one..." We all have lengthy to-do lists and obligations we need to fulfill every single day in our lives—both professionally and personally. At times, it can be overwhelming and defeating. You feel like you are running a million miles an hour but making little to no progress in areas that are most important to you. I've been there! There have been times when, at the end of a long day, I feel exhausted and left asking myself, "Where did the time go?" Or simply pondering the question, "What the heck happened today?" The video below is an awesome visual representation of how this happens to all of us. This concept was originally shared in Stephen Covey's book "First Things First." In the book, Stephen uses a jar, several rocks, some gravel, sand, and water to help illustrate different elements of our daily lives. Here is a high-level breakdown of what each represents: - Big Rocks: Your main priorities or high-value activities (HVA) - Gravel: Your day-to-day responsibilities - Sand: Life's interruptions - Water: Everything else that is non-productive (think social media) For many of us, our workdays are consumed with 'water' and 'sand.' The brutal fact is that we let others, and even at times ourselves, hijack our time, taking us away from our greatest priorities or, as referred to in this context, our Big Rocks. What if we, however, flipped the script and started our Big Rocks first? With rigorous discipline, we held ourselves to 'eating the frog' every single day. We focused on completing our biggest and, at times, hardest priorities first. If we did that, everything else would fall into place. We would be able to fit everything we wanted into our 'jar.' Having clarity on what your main priorities or high-value activities (HVA) are and tackling them first every day will have an amazing impact on your ability to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Pop some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy this quick video! 😄 Stay focused, stay dedicated, and most importantly, stay hungry, my friends! 💪 🤘 #productivity #strategy #GSD #getstuffdone #bestadvice https://lnkd.in/ebpwb2xJ

I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds,—and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air .... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark nor ever eagle flew— And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Ever wondered about the origins of April Fools’ Day? Let Carrie Creative take you on a journey through the fascinating history of this playful and mischievous holiday. The exact origins of April Fools’ Day are unclear, but it’s believed to have originated in various cultures and traditions. One popular theory is that it dates back to the switch from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar in the 16th century, when New Year’s Day moved from April 1st to January 1st. April 1st became synonymous with practical jokes and hoaxes, with people delighting in tricking their friends and loved ones. From harmless pranks to elaborate schemes, the tradition of April Fools’ Day continues to bring laughter and joy. Another theory suggests it could be linked to ancient Roman festivals or medieval customs. Regardless of its precise origins, April Fools’ Day has evolved into a lighthearted day of pranks and practical jokes observed in many countries around the world. Whether it’s crafting clever pranks or simply sharing a smile, let’s make memories that will last a lifetime this April Fools’ Day. #havealittlefun #smile #laugh #enjoytheday #happyaprilfoolsday #carriecreative
