When auditioning, you might think you're the best in the room, but many factors influence the creative team's decision. There's no way to understand exactly what they're looking for. The key is to be yourself and make strong choices. If you're not right for the project, move on and view the audition as an opportunity to learn more about yourself and what you can bring to the room. My Complete Online Course offers in-depth guidance on how to find success in auditions and beyond.

If you find that practice consists of your child playing through pieces, but pushes back when you want to work on the difficult spots - let alone repeat them correctly to build up muscle memory and avoid the mistake again next time! - you are not alone! Playing the right game here to create interest, fun and bonding over the tricky spots in music is key. Try making a funny face or getting a toy and making a funny noise after each correct repetition to help your child laugh, and don’t forget to use dice or agree in advance how many correct repetitions you are looking for! Get in touch if you’d like to hear more tips, tricks and games and how to specifically tailor them to yours and your child’s personalities! #thepracticeparentstoolkit #kimberleywongviolinstudio #kwvs #musiceducation #musicparents #musicparentslove #musicparentsrock #funpracticeideas #musicparentsguide #practiceparent #practicemusic #suzukiparents #suzukimethod #practiceparenttips #practiceroomrevelations #repetitions #repetitionhacks

The Power of Many: Balancing Solo Practice and Group Sessions for Drumming Nirvana Do you prefer solo practice or group sessions? The answer, for me, is a resounding both! Now the world of casting is all about self testing. Rig up your iPhone and hit record. Bang. Act your heart out. You can get pretty good at it, right? Why? There is no pressure. No time constraints. You can just play. The trouble is, shooting a production is hard. It’s not like a self test. This is why I value the audition process. It replicates some of the stresses that the actor will encounter on set. If an actor can’t deliver in the casting room they are not going to be able to in front of a camera and crew. You need to get good at auditioning.
