Interesting read today on an article by Milo Boyd and Krzysztof Boratyn Quoting Brett Ring from #Silverrail. I must admit I’ve never ever found the train to be faster than flying to #Edinburgh and looking at #Trainline just now I can’t find any trains from #Heathrow or #Gatwick to Edinburgh faster than the flying time stated. There are cancellations and delays meaning the changes done work. What are your thoughts on this? Have you been able to get the pricing quoted in the article? What do you think is quicker? ## UK Trains ## Compared to Europe, our public transport (especially trains) are in the dark ages for service, reliability and cost. Lovely example from West Midlands Trains this morning on our Olton to Birmingham SnowHill route. What used to be up to 6 trains during peak rush hour, (typically 4-6 carriages) is now down to 2(!) per hour and this one only had 3 carriages. Aisles, door lobbies and vestibules rammed with people standing, further slowing the chaos at each station with people trying to get onboard, or the last Pringle in the bottom/end of the can trying to get out. Verging on dangerous in the event of an emergency. If the government wants people to use their cars less, they need to sort out public transport. - Frequency - Capacity - Quality and reliability of service - Cost It's no surprise public confidence in trains and busses is so low, and people prefer to drive for cost, convenience or just to make sure they get somewhere on time (or at all). #PublicTransport #Trains
