Our latest campaign for the Safer Roads GM Partnership aims to raise awareness around the consequences and potentially life-changing effects of drink or drug driving during the festive season, including more lesser-know consequences such as being restricted to travel to places like the US or being able to apply for certain jobs. Keep your eyes peeled for more over the coming weeks.

🚛 Positive Result for WA Transport Operators! 🚛 After heavy criticism from the industry, WA’s government has reversed its decision on mandatory new road train signage. Now, operators can choose to stick with the existing "Road Train" signs or opt for new pictorial signs—saving thousands in unnecessary costs. This outcome follows strong advocacy from groups like the Western Roads Federation, and the LRTAWA, who pushed back against the costly change. What are your thoughts on the change & what can we learn from this back-flip?💪 #RoadSafety #TransportIndustry #WesternAustralia Read the BigRigs article: https://lnkd.in/gsvURRBa

It's National Road Safety Week 🚌 This year, National Road Safety Week asks everyone who drives, to proudly make the pledge to drive so others survive. Sadly, every year in Australia, around 1200 people lose their lives due to road accidents, while more than 40,000 people are seriously injured*. Traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for Australian children under the age of 15 and the second leading cause of death for all Australians between the ages of 15 and 24*. Horizons West has proudly made the pledge to drive so others survive, and you can, too, by visiting our link in bio. Victoria Walks summary of the Parliamentary Report into Road Safety and Vulnerable Road Users Evidence from Victoria Walks' submission was cited 40 times in the report, including in recommendations to government to review safer speed limit processes and for better provision of pedestrian crossings on main roads. The conclusions highlight a quote from our Executive Officer, Ben Rossiter: “Rather than tell [vulnerable road users] to take care, we need to create the environment that takes care of them.” https://lnkd.in/g5fBiMt3

Today is the beginning of National Road Safety Week - an important time to reflect on those who have tragically lost their lives on our roads. Sadly, 117 lives were lost on South Australian roads last year, while 824 people were seriously injured. The theme of Road Safety Week this year is “Drive So Others Survive”. It's a pledge to make our roads safer for everyone. Road safety is the responsibility of every person on the road and this is a reminder to be respectful of all road users – pedestrians, cyclists and drivers – so that everyone arrives home safely. Make a promise to never use mobile phones while driving, never put others at risk by speeding and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These simple commitments can make a big difference in reducing accidents and saving lives on our roads.
