On today’s 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we reaffirm our commitment to the environment and climate resilience in the logistics industry. At REICHHART Logistik, we recognise the urgent need to address climate change and take responsibility for protecting our planet. Here are three key areas where we are making a difference: 🌱 𝐋𝐨𝐰-𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬: Embracing renewable energy sources is essential for mitigating climate risks. By integrating biomethane-powered trucks into our fleet, we are taking proactive steps to reduce carbon emissions. Nine trucks of the REICHHART fleet are already running on biomethane. This includes the ongoing optimisation of capacity utilisation while avoiding empty runs, the integration of multimodal modes of transport, and the consideration of alternative drive concepts. 🌱 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲: As part of our commitment to climate security, we have adopted advanced lithium-ion forklifts that operate emission-free and incorporate smart technology for enhanced efficiency. The devices are also characterised by low power consumption and a long service life. The negative environmental impact is further reduced by a holistic recycling process for the devices. Medisort is taking a momentous step towards sustainability by electrifying its current diesel van fleet using Bedeo's retrofit solution. The clinical waste management company is outfitting its Citroën Relay van fleet with Bedeo’s Reborn Electric RE-100 Range Extender technology, not only to cut costs but also to stride towards a greener future. The first converted van is already in operation, boasting an impressive electric range of 73 miles (117km) and an extended range of 373 miles (600km). Bedeo's solution seamlessly integrates with the vans’ diesel engines, meeting Euro 6 standards and enabling electric-only operation in urban areas while using the diesel engine for journeys to and from out-of-town depots. The retrofit solution features two in-wheel motors and a 37kWh battery from Bedeo’s Protean Electric. Installed on the rear axle, these compact motors maintain ground clearance and cargo space without altering suspension or cargo configurations, making them ideal for vans with specialised cargo setups. Stuart Brittle, Medisort’s managing director, highlighted the importance of maintaining cargo configurations while transitioning to greener fleets to support vulnerable community members. Medisort’s initial Bedeo van is operational, with another set to join later to evaluate real-world performance. The company joins others in electrifying their fleets through Bedeo’s programme, which now includes fully electric versions approved by Stellantis for their large LCVs (3.5-4.5t). Bedeo’s CEO, Osman Boyner, reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability, offering solutions that prolong vehicle lifespans, reduce costs, and minimise environmental impact. . .
