A true cultural icon in Spanish gastronomy.
🫒 In the world of Spanish gastronomy, there are tapas that transcend the simple and become true cultural icons. One of them is, without a doubt, the Gilda This small snack, which combines olives, chili peppers and anchovies, not only represents a delight for the palate, but is also a symbol of the culinary tradition of northern Spain, especially the 📍Basque Country. #gilda #spanishfood #canada

#Vermouth: Something more than a drink 🍸 Today we would like to share a report from the gastronomic magazine Vinos y Restaurantes that portrays the great moment that the vermouth sector is experiencing and gives the example of PERUCCHI 1876. The article explains that this traditional drink "is more fashionable than ever", because "we are living a moment of renaissance in the appreciation of the artisanal and the authentic" and the data support it. According to the recent Nielsen IQ report on Market Trends in the Hospitality industry, vermouth consumption has increased by 9% in the last year in Spain. The data is especially relevant if we consider that in the same period, the demand in the general consumption of drinks outside the home fell by 1.4%, mainly due to the rise in prices in the on-trade. As the report states, this behaviour can be explained by the fact that "one of the consumption moments that benefited the most, during last year, was the aperitif" and 55% of Spaniards admit that they enjoy this moment on weekends, turning the vermouth into an almost sacred ritual that is shared with friends and family. Vermouth fever is also driven by the "psychology of premiumization" as consumers are now looking for authentic, high-quality experiences, which has led to a growing demand for exclusive, artisanal vermouths such as PERUCCHI 1876. At Magellan & Cheers, we celebrate the industry's momentum and continue to work to protect and develop iconic craft spirits brands as part of our shared heritage. #MagellanCheers #vermouth #spirits

BEYOND BORDEAUX, the fourth episode of Inside La Place de Bordeaux by ARENI Global, discusses a pivotal moment in the history of La Place: the exact moment when the fine wine market became a truly international fine wine market. Twenty years ago, wines from countries like Chile, Argentina and Australia accounted for less than one half of one percent of the global fine wine trade altogether — despite the presence of Almaviva and Opus One on La Place. But all that changed in 2010, towards the end of the global financial crisis. The rise of less expensive airfares due to cheap oil prices, and more affordable accommodation options like Airbnb led to the rise of gastrotourism with its focus on visiting the best restaurants in the world. At the same time, both executives and tourists alike started visiting premium wineries directly – and they wanted to experience these wines again once they got back home. By 2016, approximately 30 million bottles of foreign wines were being consumed in France, a figure that wouldn’t have seemed possible just ten years earlier, when “fine wine” in France was limited to Bordeaux and Burgundy and occasionally Champagne. A greater need for global distribution became clear – and La Place de Bordeaux was in the perfect position to respond to this need. #BeyondBordeaux #Bordeaux #LaPlace #ARENI Enjoy the fourth episode of this acclaimed series featuring Pauline Vicard, co-founder and executive director of ARENI Global, and editorial director Felicity Carter by listening here: https://lnkd.in/eRupckG8

A City That Blends Its Cuisine with Its Economy: Gaziantep By Mehmet Öğütçü While wandering through the lavender-scented valleys of Provence, captivated by the allure of world-renowned gastronomic routes, my thoughts often drifted to Gaziantep, Turkey’s rising star. No matter how refined Provence’s flavors are or how deeply rooted its cuisine is in French culture, Gaziantep tells a different story—a tale of a centuries-old gastronomic heritage transformed into a model of economic development. Gaziantep’s Gastronomy Festival, growing in stature each year, feeds more than just our appetites; it nourishes the city’s economic structure. Beyond Gastronomy The first word that may come to mind when thinking of Gaziantep is “food.” Its cuisine is now recognized worldwide. Yet, the city’s success doesn’t end with its culinary achievements. Gaziantep has crafted an economic dynamism centered around its gastronomic prowess. The Gaziantep Gastronomy Festival has become one of the city’s most significant cultural and economic events, expanding each year thanks to both domestic and international participants. During the festival, hotels brim with guests, restaurants close their reservation books weeks in advance, and local producers and artisans see their sales double. However, most importantly, this festival demonstrates that Gaziantep’s development model extends beyond tourism and cuisine. The city has skillfully integrated agriculture, the service industry, and local production into a unique economic model. The Strength of Local Producers When we speak of Gaziantep’s cuisine….
