As we reflect together as a human community about protecting this big globe that we live on together, it is important to also reflect on travel and how it impacts the environment. Here are some ways that we can make sure that our travel has 🌳 Specifically look to work with travel companies and providers that are actively working on ways to reduce the impact that their company makes. Many of our travel partners are making great strides in this, and we can help you connect with them for your trip. 🌳 Stay longer in each destination: When you are traveling, each time you move to a new state our country, the transportation that it takes to do that creates more of a negative environmental impact. You can lessen that impact by staying longer at each place (so perhaps instead of going to Europe and going to three countries, you spend more time exploring one more deeply). 🌳 Seek to visit and support states and countries that are making big moves to be greener and have less of an impact on the earth. Norway is a great example of this - Norway is one of the Greenest countries in the world...they have been working for a long time to reduce their carbon footprint, so visiting here will have less of an environmental impact than a heavily polluting country. #earthday #sustainabletravel #ecotravel #travelresponsibly #naturelovers #lowimpact #treadlightly #reducereuserecycle #savetheplanet #bethechange #mindfultraveler #ecoconscious #greentravel #earthfirst #climateaction #impacttravel #greenwanderer #ethicaltravel #ecoadventure #futureoftravel #leavenotrace #conscioustravel #protectwhatyoulove #dosomethinggreattoday #bethesolution

A Sustainable Paradise: Dominica’s Commitment to Protecting Its Beaches and Building Climate Resilience Dominica’s beaches are more than picturesque, they’re a vital part of the island’s ecosystem and a testament to its commitment to sustainability. A question we come across regularly from our clients: ❓ How can we enjoy the beauty of nature without harming it? Today, on World Tourism Day, we're reminded that eco-tourism is more than just traveling to beautiful places; it’s about making choices that protect ecosystems and uplift local communities. At its best, eco-tourism balances adventure with conservation and provides economic benefits to those who live in these incredible destinations. But it's not without its challenges. Too often, we see the unintended consequences of over-tourism — where environmental degradation and cultural exploitation replace what was once a pristine experience 🌿 To ensure eco-tourism truly supports conservation, it must be approached with care. This means designing journeys that minimise environmental impact, involve local communities in decision-making, and ensure that economic benefits are equitable and long-lasting. The goal is to create meaningful travel experiences that leave a positive mark on both the environment and the communities 🌍 By choosing eco-tourism that is responsible, inclusive, and genuinely sustainable, we can turn our adventures into catalysts for positive change. For more than 20 years, we've been committed to maintaining a tourism company that allows travelers to explore northern Chile while being fully aware of our environmental impact. We avoid single-use objects and prioritize slow travel, seeking out beautiful, less-visited destinations in the extreme north of Chile to protect local ecosystems. The north of Chile is the driest desert in the world. The survival of life, culture, and humanity in such a harsh environment motivates us to show travelers how resilient its inhabitants have been under these conditions. This year’s World Environment Day focuses on “land restoration, halting desertification, and building drought resilience” under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” We cannot turn back time, but we can grow forests, revive water sources, and bring back soils. We are the generation that can make peace with the land. And we advocate for this cause because we know there is no planet B. If you too believe there is a more sustainable way to do tourism, contact us to marcela@extremonorte.cl to book a slow travel trip. #extremonorte_chile #chiletravel #atacama #slowtravel #travelagency #sustainability #WorldEnvironmentDay
