Question for world leaders and influencers: How many of you are ready to make the kinds of sacrifices that Dr. Hossam Abu Safia continues to make after 390 days of genocide and 30 days of total siege - including being abducted, beaten, and burying his son in the courtyard of the hospital, murdered by IOF (may Allah have mercy upon his son and grant him the highest stations in Jennah)? How many of you would refuse to abandon your people until your last breath? How many of you would continue to work surrounded by shelling and shooting and starvation and lack of medicine and staff? How many of you would work for no pay, away from your family, unsure of their safety and stay focused on the people who arrive at your doorstep 24/7 knowing that your efforts for many will end in death for lack of supplies? How many of you would remain steadfast in your commitment to your people even though you are isolated and no one responds to your repeated urgent requests for help? HOW MANY? HOW MANY? https://lnkd.in/eRYw6Ux4

This @Forbes article written by @Peter Sands of @TheGlobalFund highlights the critical role of #HealthWorkers—most of them #women--in leading the fight against #malaria. In it, he shares the story of midwife Emily Itondo, nurse Danielle Ekoto, and community health worker Amelie Tachifo, who provide critical malaria interventions in #Cameroon. Read this article to follow them and learn about their critical contributions to garner trust with communities most affected by malaria. I echo Peter’s message that we must support and empower health workers to #EndMalaria: https://ow.ly/N9s730sCCt5

Today is World Malaria Day! 🌍 As a nurse in a healthcare professional team, I want to emphasize the importance of education in preventing and treating malaria. This disease still affects many vulnerable groups, including young children, migrant workers, and pregnant people, due to poverty and limited education. Let's work together to educate our communities on: •Using insecticide-treated bed nets • Eliminating standing water to prevent mosquito breeding • Seeking medical attention immediately if symptoms occur We can make a difference! Let's join forces to combat malaria and promote health equity. #WorldMalariaDay #MalariaPrevention #HealthEducation #NursingCommunity #HealthcareProfessionals #CommunityOutreach #GlobalHealth #MalariaElimination #NursesOnLinkedIn

The efforts to combat viral hepatitis, particularly through the WHO's comprehensive public health approach, are indeed notable. The early 2000s posed significant challenges especially in treating hepatitis B. Medications like lamivudine and tenofovir, funded by PEPFAR in LMIC, was earmarked for HIV and almost unimaginable in managing this condition for viral suppression. Addressing these issues was not just a medical challenge but also a significant human rights concern. Ensuring access to treatment for viral suppression was critical in providing equitable healthcare. The strides made since then highlight the importance of global health initiatives and the need for continued attention to such critical public health issues. It underscores the importance of an integrated approach in treating and managing chronic infections, aligning resources, and prioritizing patient care on a global scale. (Shiferaw, F., Letebo, M. & Bane, A. Chronic viral hepatitis: policy, regulation, and strategies for its control and elimination in Ethiopia. Cameroon, one of World Health Organization’s 10 focus countries for viral hepatitis, hosted an Africa CDC mission to boost its fight against hepatitis B & C. With 1.3 million global deaths from viral hepatitis in 2022, tackling this threat is vital for Africa’s health security. Mission highlights: ✅ Advocating for more domestic funding. ✅ Steps to ensure universal treatment access for pregnant women. ✅ Progress on adding the hepatitis B birth dose to routine immunisation. Supported by KOICA, Africa CDC is working toward the 2030 elimination goals and a hepatitis-free Africa. #HepatitisElimination #AfricaCDC #2030Goals #PublicHealth
