It's 100% worth taking your kids out of school to travel. So many parents plan trips around Christmas & Spring breaks. Those are terrible times to travel. Why? Because everyone else is. There's no deals then (or they're hard to find). I know the front desk lady at your child's school is judgy. I know the teachers will be mad. I get it's hard. But your kid will learn a lot more from a week in Italy than they will in a classroom, I guarantee it. Travel will be the best classroom they've ever experienced. I missed 8 days of high school for an Italy trip - I still graduated top 10% in my class. My sister missed 2 weeks of 8th grade for an Africa trip, she had a life-changing experience. Your. kids. will. be. fine. When the whole year is available for travel, you can: ▶️ Snag the best deals. ▶️ Travel during shoulder season. ▶️ Avoid large crowds. & so much more. Don't let school schedules get in the way of your child's education. 📸 : Ian & I missing high school to actually learn.
Terrible. Absolutely terrible time to travel. The holidays are the worst. I see people pay 2-3x more. People - it's just a few days of school. Take those kids out! They're YOUR KIDS! I think the only reason it's hard is because we've convinced ourselves we can't.
My kids are missing the whole month of May from school to go to Europe. And that is totally ok. They’ll still go to college. I’m sure of it.
The memories created outside the classroom will be the one's that always stick with you.
Totally agree. School is for the kids and family not the other way around. At some point people became commodities instead of customers in that system
so true Colin. When I was in 4th grade, my parents took us on a 7 week road trip around the U.S. My teacher assigned me a daily journal and a presentation when I was back in class. The lessons learned on that trip decades ago still resonate the value of learning outside the classroom.
I don't have kids but am 100% on board with this. The older I get, the more strongly I feel about it as well.
Cant agree more. I was fortunate enough to travel at least once every other month for a few days to a week for essentially my entire elementary school time. Made little to zero difference, still graduated with As, got into university and got a degree. And now travel has become foundational to my being, grateful to have started young!
Woah woah woah. They wouldn't learn more traveling than in my class 💁🏾♀️ But I agree. I'm always encouraging people to travel during shoulder and low seasons. We went to six countries in one year and spent less than $4000 on flights altogether. You can't do that during peak season!
I missed two weeks of school to go to China. Learned more in those two weeks than the entire year.
