Holiday season is filled with joy and excitement, but it can also stretch your budget during what often becomes the most expensive time of the year. Especially in families with young children, it can be hard to rein in the impulse to get everything on the wish list. Here are a couple of tips that might help, while also teaching your children a little about money: Make a list of people you need to buy gifts for and set a budget for each person. If you’re shopping with children, try to shop with cash (and only bring enough cash to cover the things on your list). It’s easier to demonstrate the value of money when using cash instead of credit or debit, and allows your shopping buddy to ensure they are keeping the budget on track. In addition, planning a family volunteer activity can help shift the focus away from material goods while making lasting memories together and building a new tradition. These are just some ideas to help you and your family enjoy a less stressful season. #happyholidays #kidsandmoney

92% of the kids we taught last month said they'd received a holiday or birthday gift they NEVER really used or appreciated! 😱 Some kids don't love their summer birthday, because they can't be celebrated with classmates. But summer birthdays offer terrific opportunities to give kids a present for their future: a gift they really want and appreciate, wrapped in money-smarts! 🎁 Because over the summer, families have a little more time to ask the simple questions, about typical childhood purchases, that can help birthday boys or girls avoid disappointment, reduce waste, improve family harmony and protect the planet. 😍 The DIMS - DOES IT MAKE SENSE?® SCORE Calculator helps kids do just that, think about how best to spend their hard-earned money, or anyone else's. And it's free and safe. Because we believe raising children who spend with a plan, can eliminate financial illiteracy in decades! 🎊 Learn more at GiftingSense.org #GiveMoneySmartz #BestGiftEver #TeachKidsAboutMoney #SummerBirthdays #ParentingTips

Have you ever considered not giving gifts this Christmas? 🎁 We're not talking about your close family gifts, but the ever-increasing gifts to friends, extended family and colleagues. 😱 Obliged giving can be unnecessary, expensive and can create an obligation for the recipient to give back, when they may not be able to afford it! For some, the gift of "not obliging you to buy for me" is actually better. 😊 If you don't want to be the one to suggest this with friends, why not at least agree to a Secret Santa for £5 - £10 to ease the financial pressure! 👍 Follow us for all our advent Christmas spending money saving tips! 🎅 #christmas #adventcalendar #moneysavingtips #familyfinances

There are a thousand ways to show love to kids through gifting, but INTENTIONALITY is needed. The best part of giving children is that you do not need to do so much to impress them. They are easily WOWED and swept off their feet without breaking the bank. Children are the mirror of the future; let's raise them well. Yesterday (May 27, 2024) was World Children's Day. We decided to come up with these slides on gifting children. We hope you find these slides helpful. Which of the slides would you be trying out? The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program still needs to adopt angels, and time is running out! This program brings holiday joy to over 3,400 underprivileged children in Broward County, but we need your help to make it happen. By adopting an angel, your organization can make a difference for children who might not otherwise receive a gift this holiday season. Each angel represents a real child in our community with unique needs. Participating is simple – decide how many employees would like to purchase a gift for a child, and we'll take care of the rest. We suggest a gift budget of $25 to $30 per child. Here’s how it works: - Angel tags include the child’s name, age, and gift request. - You can display or distribute the tags on a Christmas tree to participants. - Participants purchase the requested gift and return it unwrapped with the angel tag attached. - All gifts must be returned between December 3rd and 9th to allow our team to process and distribute them by December 19. Your commitment by Wednesday, October 18th is vital to ensuring that no child goes without a gift this holiday season Please contact us at denisse.mollfulleda@uss.salvationarmy.org to register your organization or for more information.
