#ForceDesignFriday The Commandant of the Marine Corps recently released FRAGO 01-2024, indicating "Force Design set us on a critically necessary path – one that will continue." [https://lnkd.in/e5C-xmSA] Historical context indicates this is not a new phenomenon, as any military is subject to balance available resources including budgets, personnel, and equipment while satisfying statutory and strategic guidance. As the USMC continues to pursue FD2030, it is worth reflecting on previous force changes the USMC has pursued, almost four decades ago. "Personnel reduced at battalion level. Firepower up 25%." Formations and technology will continue to change which means PERSONNEL will continue to be the critical difference. People > Technology Image: General P.X. Kelley, FY86 Posture Statement Source: Marine Corps Gazette, April 1985, p.18-32. #usmc #marines #defense #strategy #personnel #technology

#showyourstripes Day Friday 21 June 🌎 I have over simplified the expertise and research of Ed Hawkins and his team at Uni of Reading, but the three colours not only reflect a cooler navy blue period, milder light blue and more recent hotter red average temperature change over the last 150 years or so, but these colours also represent the three Armed forces of the UK Ministry of Defence - Navy, RAF and Army. MODs cutting edge military equipment, its amazing personnel and the physical areas it operates in, now and in the future, are NOT EXEMPT from climate change. The opportunity to help reduce #climatechange is apparent and there is huge effort to engage with industry, reuse/recycle equipment and components, improve behaviours of operators and change mindsets of decision-makers.
