Grand Rising! Last evening, I sat with Buddhist Monk Tenzin while he offered a beautiful blend of Tibetan Buddhist wisdom and short meditations. Last evenings focus was compassion, the root of happiness. From compassion arises (indirectly or directly) all the qualities people reference to when they label a person as exemplary or genuine. They could, for example, be speaking about a person with a positive outlook who loves his children and partner or of a person who has harmonious relationships with his friends and does his work with honesty and altruism. It could also be a person who accomplishes all the goals he sets for himself, etc. What’s more, all the feelings of love, respect and non-violence are nourished by compassion. It makes no difference whether these feelings are showed towards other human beings, domestic animals like dogs or cats, wild animals like birds, insects or all the other forms of life; no matter how tiny they be. The precious spirit of enlightenment is the essential quality that permits the accomplishment of the unsurpassable joy of the awakening of beings. The root of the spirit is compassion. “Without compassion as a root, no patience can be developed in the face of difficulties. The sage who isn’t patient towards suffering will not be able to develop in himself that spirit of kindness towards all beings.” —— Buddha Maitreya On this beautiful Friday morning of the 13th of September 2024, ask yourself: Is there a space moving forward where you can create more compassion for yourself and/or others?
