❓ Why should understanding their position in society matter to a transit hub? ❓ And how can knowing this help improve every aspect of its efficiency? When considering social placemaking – the intentional design and curation of a space to promote a sense of community and belonging – a venue should first consider the impact of building a more welcoming environment. In our most recent blog post, we explore the impact of social placemaking ideals and how GoodMaps can help venues to become dynamic and sustainable hubs. 📃 https://hubs.li/Q02qM8PV0 #MappingTheFuture #SocialPlacemaking #SustainableTravel #tech4good — Also, don’t forget to check out the video on our partnership with Port of Portland, which highlights the ever-present need to consider a venue’s impact on all of society. ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️

It’s about finding the right balance between exciting experiences and calmer moments that suit the guests. There is an ebb and flow that humans relax into it, just like nature: active opening activities followed by more inner looking ones. I understood this cyclical way of approaching life in general not only events from my years of volunteering in our daughters old Steiner School in London. Events that are cyclical in their set up, are easier to organise, wholesome and meaningful for the guests as it’s simply natural and we all know it. However cyclical events ( living ) goes against the mainstream, even if you think about it we lived most of our lives on this planet following natures rhythms. What we experience now it’s a small fraction of the history of humanity. #cyclicalevents #cyclicaliving #eventplanner #wholesomeevents

Reflecting on our Placemaking Pilot Study alongside The Waterfront BIA in Toronto, we uncovered significant opportunities for creative placemaking and engaging community involvement. Our goal was to invigorate the Toronto Waterfront, transforming it into a more captivating and inclusive space. Through our research, it became evident that the community deeply valued: - Comfortable seating - Public art - Game and activity areas Armed with these insights focused on community desires, our initiative led to tangible benefits, including: - A 22% increase in pedestrian traffic - 40% more interactions in the area, transforming transit spaces into hubs of dining, art, and rapport The most critical lesson from this endeavour was the profound impact of aligning project objectives with the community’s preferences. Explore more about how this project breathed new life into Toronto’s public spaces, creating a dynamic, intergenerational, and community-centred environment below!
