What's the origins of the "Linear Highbay"? The Linear Highbay was designed for consistent lighting in high-ceiling spaces such as warehouses and retail. Initially, metal halide (MH) lamps were used, but MH had its drawbacks—high heat, long warm-up times, and heavy maintenance. By the 1970s, fluorescent technology took over as the go-to solution, providing energy efficiency and more even light distribution. Fluorescents dominated for over 40 years until LED emerged, bringing longer lifespans, instant-on, and superior control, making LEDs the top choice today.
