Some of you may know, and many likely don't, that my parents-in-law fund and manage an orphanage in Mozambique; one of the poorest countries in the world. Their non-profit organization, Least of These Ministries, utilizes 100% of donations to fund the orphanage named after my mother-in-law: Rebecca's Home. These donations pay for school for the kids (it isn't free in Mozambique), new clothes, shoes and beds, medical care, job training, staff salaries, building structures like dorms and wells, maintenance and repairs, food, holiday celebrations and anything else the kids need. Currently, there are about 50 children living at Rebecca's Home. Since its start in 2007, hundreds of Mozambique's "least of these" have been helped at Rebecca's Home. Recently, I was asked to make a video using some current pictures sent by Pastor Cebola (he's the man who runs the orphanage locally). Please take a look and see all the good that is being done there. And if you want to get involved financially, or otherwise, please let me know and I'll give you details on how to make a difference in these kids' lives. Baja Missions Team on Instagram: "The undisputed highlight of our week: House Dedication Services. The culmination of not just four days of (some) blood, (lots of) sweat, and (many) tears, but a literal answer to years of prayers by these families. May these homes be not just shelter, but a lasting symbol of faith, hope, and a promise of God’s love. We love you, Ruiz/Morales/Barazza families!💕 #a

Only 2 more days until 30 of us from the UK branch of MacArtney Underwater Technology Group take on The Kiltwalk Aberdeen. There are 20 of us doing the Mighty Stride (18 Miles) and 10 doing the Wee Wander (4 Miles). We are doing this walk to help support Guide dogs and any donation you can make would be greatly received. Donations can be made at the following link. https://lnkd.in/eZ6YND-T Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams. #kiltwalk #guidedogs #charity #subsea #underwater

The Winter Walk strives to create unity, magnifies kindness, and exemplifies the absolute best of our humanity. In our movement, there are no divisions visible, no conflicts brought to the fore - just pure love and a shared goal of lifting up those in need. In a time when our country feels so divided, this unity at our annual walk becomes more important than ever. By joining together, we can not only end homelessness but also strengthen our communities and our economy, and improve the quality of life for every person in our nation. However, we do face significant challenges: right now, too much of our funding is being used to put out the fires of a local and national crisis that has persisted for decades. We lack the capital, time, and resources to focus on prevention and to build the sustainable, supportive systems that people need to re-enter safe spaces, rebuild their lives, and eventually rejoin the mainstream economy. Winter Walk programs offer a clear path forward, but we need your help. ❄️ A Message of Love & Unity: https://lnkd.in/dGcuuab3

My personal philanthropy has a primary focus on the human rights of children and young people. Which is understandable when you hear my own story of childhood abuse and neglect. I strongly believe that every child deserves to be loved, safe and able to thrive, no matter where they were born. I also believe that this is the responsibility of the whole community - not just the biological parents. That is why I chose to apply to be a Trustee for Hope and Homes for Children and it was an absolute honour to be selected for this huge responsibility. As such, I have had the privilege to see the positive results of their incredible work, but there is so much more to be done. Sadly, at least 5.4million children are currently separated from their families, shut away inside orphanages, and staggeringly 80% are not even orphans. Orphanages are not the safe place we have been led to believe by decades of well meaning charity work and philanthropy. It is well researched and demonstrated that orphanages expose children to abuse, trafficking, and physical and psychological trauma that can last a lifetime. 📖🔬here is just one study https://lnkd.in/ejxvhEk7 No child should end up in an orphanage. There is ALWAYS a better solution. Today is the UN #InternationalDayofFamilies and this marks the launch of HHC’s campaign #BacktoFamily. It’s an incredible and well thought out campaign, using #AI to protect the rights of children. What can you do to help get children out of harms way today - i’ve made an easy list below (with a little help from the team at HHC) 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐 💛 Please share this poignant message from Kristin Scott Thomas 💛 Sign the petition www.backtofamily.org 💛 Donate https://lnkd.in/eJDgcu8R 💛 Attend one of HHC’s fab events https://lnkd.in/eH8BbyPT 💛 Challenge yourself and fundraise as a bonus! https://lnkd.in/eH8BbyPT 💛 Follow HHC and share their posts on social media - this is a social movement to protect the rights of the most vulnerable children 💛 Join their mailing list to stay up to date https://lnkd.in/efzc4dAz At the very least I encourage you to take a look at their website and learn more about the harmful effects of orphanages, what the alternative is and how #philanthropy has a catalytic role to play in this social movement https://lnkd.in/egzS5ua5 ‼️Philanthropy should be about learning, so if you have been funding an orphanage and want to learn what you can do to help those children please get in touch with me today xx ‼️ #BackToFamily #socialmovement #artificialintelligence #AIforgood https://lnkd.in/edyeVuQr

Ok - so you may be one of those people who saw all the #GivingTuesday posts and thought it would be good to support them but ended up not doing anything. Well, I have great news for you - today can be #Ididnotletanotheropportunitypass day! And I have even better news - you can do it and get 100% of your donation back! I am talking about supporting one of the amazing Foster Care Organizations in Georgia by making a donation through the Fostering Success Act Tax Credit. As long as you are a Georgia taxpayer, you can be approved (it just takes a few minutes) and make a donation then get 100% of the money back when you file your taxes in 2025. Below is a link to the Goshen Valley website (the Foster Care Organization I support) which has an easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to take advantage of this. When you go to the State of Georgia website you will see the other 38 approved FCO's if you want to find one in your area. These organizations depend on our support - and the donations from the tax credit are a GAME CHANGER for them! So there it is...will you let another opportunity go by or will you take a few minutes and change lives for the better? For those of you that support this post, please like or share and help get the word out. Let's make today #Ididnotletanotheropportunitypass day!

Can you help us to tackle homelessness? This month, and the next, and the next? We're a social enterprise and employ all of our tour guides. Raising funds can be tough because we're always asking people to part with money that is stretched in so many different directions. But now, people can make little monthly donations on a regular basis and that is huge news for us. 💚 A fiver a month pays for training materials for a new guide 💚 £10 a month pays for a venue for guide training 💚 £20 a month pays for new guides to explore their city and hear from other museum, gallery and tour guides on how they run their tours. If you or your business can make a small regular donation like this, it helps so much and we'll be excited to share those updates with you as we help more people across the UK impacted by homelessness. https://lnkd.in/eCsShAHw #crowdfunder #fundraising #socialenterprise #tacklinghomelessness.

So so important
Last week we launched the Brick by Brick in partnership with The Independent that aims to raise £300,000 to build an innovative, safe home that welcomes any woman fearing for her life, no matter her circumstances. 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse but for practical reasons some women and their children escaping an abusive partner can’t be sheltered in a traditional shared refuge. Every two hours a woman is turned away from a refuge due to lack of space or capacity. By donating a brick today, you can help us rebuild women’s lives, brick by brick. https://lnkd.in/e_hq_ZAB
