Lessons Learned: Refugee Organizations Leading the Way https://lnkd.in/gFeYfv6V What makes scaling successful for us at RRLI: 1) Refugee leadership, leadership that is authentic, and genuinely representing the community. 2) Having a clear vision, and the ability to consistently communicate this to partners. 3) Flexible funding Could you share what brings you hope in this moment and what you see as the big opportunities for this work? What brings me hope at this moment is the growing realization within the humanitarian aid sector that there is something fundamentally wrong with how resources are allocated. We're seeing serious conversations about power imbalances, tokenistic involvement of refugee leaders, and others. These are tough but necessary discussions. So, what brings me hope is this awakening, this shift in mindset. It is a long process—it will take time, effort, and thought—but the benefits far outweigh the effort involved. https://lnkd.in/gFeYfv6V

Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans (PANA) in #SanDiego, California, is one of ten organizations receiving a $100K grant to amplify the influence of #immigrants and #refugees in their community as part of the Elevating Migrant Leadership: Building Inclusive Futures initiative from the WES Mariam Assefa Fund. With this funding, PANA will support organizing and leadership development to achieve policy wins and justice for Black, Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian immigrants and refugees. From Hardship to Hope! Rania El-Sayed didn’t just survive, she transformed lives. Born and raised in a refugee camp in the Sinai Peninsula, Rania’s life changed drastically in the 1990s when her family lost everything to political instability.  Despite these dire circumstances, she refused to let her environment define her future.  She educated herself, delved into sustainable development, and founded a social enterprise dedicated to empowering displaced women and refugees. Rania’s journey embodies John C. Maxwell’s Law of Addition: “Leaders add value by serving others.”  Her mission wasn’t about personal gain. It was about lifting others. Her story highlights three key leadership principles: 1️⃣ Serve to Empower: Rania created economic opportunities for women, enabling hundreds to build businesses and break free from poverty. 2️⃣ Transform Challenges into Purpose: She turned her hardships into a platform for sustainable impact. 3️⃣ Add Value Daily: Leadership is about consistently creating opportunities for others to thrive.
