Did you know IoTAS sponsor a Triathlon Club? 🏊🏼 Triathlon is a multi-sport event combining swimming, cycling, and running 🚴🏼 Events can range in length and duration varies from sprint distance which is a few miles to 140 plus miles 🏃🏼 Depending on the event the conditions can also differ greatly; swimming maybe in the sea or an indoor pool and cycling or running could be on rolling hills or a flat coastal road Last month several of the Tri Squad members took part in the Outlaw Holkham events. The weekend of racing comprised of: ✅ Outlaw Half Holkham: 1.2 Mile Swim, 56 Mile Bike and 13.1 Mile Run ✅ Outlaw Half Holkham Aqua bike: 1.2 Mile Swim and 56 Mile Bike ✅ Outlaw Gravel Sprint Holkham: 750m Swim, 20km Bike and 5km Run ✅ Holkham 10k: 10km Run ✅ Future Outlaw Holkham 1.2 or 2.4 Miles It was a tough day for all competitors on Sunday with a head wind throughout the majority of the undulating bike ride. With the challenging bike stage, there was then a particularly difficult 13.1 mile run to finish off the event. There were still some fantastic results over the weekend at this superb event run by Outlaw! 👏🏼 As in business, preparation is key, and it makes life much easier. But also in business, when things do not go according to plan, having serious will power in your tool box is something that comes in very handy. The IOC is always going on about how they do everything in the interests of the athletes. But is this shambles around the triathlon at the Paris Games really about the athletes? Yes, in terms of protecting their health today. But why was this decision to have the swimming in the Seine taken in the first place with what seems to be no backstop? It is more about promoting Paris than about triathlon. It was always risky. Interestingly, World Aquatics have the backstop of their open water swimming race in the rowing lake if the Seine is too dirty for their race later. But it doesn't work for triathlon, it seems. So now there is talk about having a duathlon rather than a triathlon. Now, people do compete in such races, but would we settle for a five-a-side kickabout in place of the World Cup final? No. It ain't the same. I hope the Olympic reporters are asking tough questions now of both Paris organisers and the IOC. They need to. The athletes have been let down if these races don't take place properly. https://lnkd.in/eATvvWgF

🏊♂️ Olympic Dream Derailed: A Triathlete's Wetsuit Nightmare In the heart-pounding world of Olympic triathlon, every second and every piece of equipment counts. Hong Kong’s triathlete, Jason Ng Tai-long, recently experienced a racer’s worst nightmare at the Paris Olympics when his wetsuit was unexpectedly damaged during the swim segment in the River Seine. This wasn’t just a minor hiccup; it significantly impacted his performance and, ultimately, his dreams. 🌊 I still remember my first triathlon; how every detail seemed both exhilarating and terrifying. The sensation of water resistance against a smooth wetsuit, the transitions from water to bike to run... and how the smallest gear issue could throw off your entire race. Jason’s ordeal brings back those vivid memories and the stark reminder of the razor-thin margins in competitive sports. This incident raises important questions: 1. How can athletes better prepare for unexpected equipment failures? 2. What support mechanisms do we need in place for athletes facing such heartbreak at major competitions? Athletes train for years to shine on these global stages. It's crucial we discuss not only the physical but also the emotional and logistical support systems necessary for them to perform at their best. 🔍 What are your thoughts on how athletes can safeguard their performance from equipment malfunctions? How should teams prepare for such unforeseen events? #Olympics #Triathlon #AthleteSupport #Sportsmanship #Resilience Discover more tips, insights, and resources by visiting our site at https://lnkd.in/gB7x-bnD

Every stroke, pedal, and step is a testament to years of preparation and unwavering spirit—a common thread that connects all athletes, amateur or professional. 📊 Did you know? New Post: Olympic Triathlon Mixed Relay In Seine To Go Ahead Monday - https://lnkd.in/gDtGy8PA Image for representative use© X (Twitter) The Olympic triathlon mixed relay will go ahead as planned Monday, organisers said, despite two days of training in the River Seine being cancelled and a Belgian triathlete falling sick. "The latest test results confirm that the water quality of the Seine at the triathlon site has improved over the last hours, and the prospective tests indicate the water quality will be within the acceptable limits according to World Triathlon," Paris Games organisers said in a statement on Sunday. A decision was initially due to be made overnight Sunday to Monday based on bacteriological results from 24 hours before, but it was brought forward at the request of the triathlon teams to allow athletes more time to prepare. The men's triathlon was postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday earlier this week because of pollution problems, with competitors only finding out around 4:00 am on the morning of the scheduled race.Belgian triathlete Claire Michel fell "sick" after taking part in the women's race on Wednesday, the Belgian National Olympic Committee (COIB) said.As a result of her illness, her country will not take part in the mixed relay."The COIB and Belgian Triathlon hope that the lessons will be learned for future triathlon competitions at the Olympics," the committee said in a statement.(This story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is auto-generated from a syndicated feed.)
