🚀 Clean Hydrogen: The Road Ahead for Europe 🚀 Reading through the Clean Hydrogen Monitor 2024 feels like peeking into the future of Europe's energy transition, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Here are my key takeaways: 1️⃣ Progress Amid Challenges: Electrolysis capacity in Europe has doubled in two years, yet it’s still just 0.4% of total hydrogen production. We’re innovating, but scaling up remains a monumental task. 2️⃣ The Infrastructure Gap: Only 4% of hydrogen projects are under construction. While the Nordics and Iberia are poised to lead production, cross-border infrastructure is the linchpin for matching supply with demand. 3️⃣ Policy Is Critical: Regulatory clarity is make-or-break. The EU Hydrogen Strategy sets ambitious targets, but without accelerated adoption and funding, hitting 2030 goals seems unlikely. 4️⃣ Cost & Competitiveness: Clean hydrogen is getting cheaper but still struggles against fossil fuel alternatives. Countries like Sweden and Finland, with low renewable electricity costs, are paving the way. Europe’s clean hydrogen future hinges on bold action—on funding, policy, and collaboration. The vision is inspiring; now it's about execution. 🌍⚡ Follow me for more insights: Paul Meersman At Triton Hydrogen What’s your perspective? Are we moving fast enough? Exciting strides in Europe’s hydrogen journey! Doubling electrolysis is a win, but scaling infrastructure and policy clarity are critical. Collaboration will turn vision into reality.
