Hello and welcome to True Lessons. You have one stop destination for upskilling courses in the healthcare space and career advancement courses like communication skills and English language enhancement. In the earlier video, we have already talked about however, body language affects our communication. In this video, I'll be talking about how our hands and facial expressions are used to convey several meanings. Let me ask you something. How do trembling fingers or fidgety hands suggest? It suggests anxiety, fear and nervousness. I have seen people holding something up as a barrier, for example a handbag or a book or a pillow. It can suggest a need to protect the cells or block others out. And now facial expressions. With some practice we all can fake our expressions. It can be easily controlled or covered up. This is where it is important to observe. The microexpressions. Microexpressions are often defined as facial movements that are exhibited only for a short time and can reveal emotions that individuals tend to hide. The duration of these expressions is less than 333 milliseconds. Now let's look at some microexpressions. Raised or drawn together. Eyebrows can suggest fear or disgust. Lowered eyebrows, 10 slips and a set jaw. Can suggest angle, low lip corners, pouting lower lip can suggest sadness and lip biting might indicate nervousness. Next is eye contact. Someone who can't meet your eyes could be nervous. Shifty eyes might indicate that the person is not truthful. When we talk about eye contact, it is important to mention the blinking pattern. Rapid blinking could indicate stress. Mindfulness of nonverbal communication. Will allow everyone to communicate better. We also can put an effort to alter our body language and expressions to suit the social norms while in public or in a work environment.
