For many years now, I've donated scores of hours to mostly boots-on-ground mutual aid efforts with a focus on community resilience, social justice, and environmental stewardship. Because so much of my day-to-day work happens in a digital sphere—writing communications, content, producing video scripts and podcasts, public relations support and grantwriting/fundraising—I like to use my body in service to community. For much of 2024 I was partially (and hopefully temporarily) disabled and unable to show up for community the way I like. It's been one week since knee surgery and I'm just beginning the healing process but I'm still a ways off from being able to embody my service. Catchafire to the rescue! Catchafire is a digital platform where nonprofits can post projects they need help with and connect with volunteers across the entire range of needs—from communications and marketing to develpment to fundraising. Most of the engagements are short-term, limited duration, but some can become longer term. For me, it's been a neat way to continue serving community from the safety (and ice packs) of home and be able to help a variety of businesses. For some reason, I notice there aren't many environmental/climate-focused nonprofits seeking help through Catchafire. So, to my comrades and colleagues in the climate/sustainability/clean energy space, please check it out and spread the word! https://lnkd.in/gEUFCb2r

On 1 July, Groundswell Giving is opening a new climate action grant round to ensure ambitious climate action emerges as a winner in the 2025 election. Can you help us? Just this last week we’ve seen the climate wars kicking up again, which means action gets delayed, misinformation ramps up, and public distrust in climate solutions grows. We don’t have time for this. We’re half way through the critical decade. If we’re to take action that aligns with the science, it has to be now. Right now. The good news is philanthropy can move faster than politics. Can you donate today and help us power a new wave of strategic climate advocacy in the lead up to the 2025 Federal election? All donations are tax-deductible donation and 100% of your donations will go directly to supporting high-impact advocacy. Donate today: https://lnkd.in/gfRbTCC8
