According to recent data, respondents emphasize healthcare, military, and finance as top sectors requiring careful regulation. Interestingly, digital familiarity also plays a role, with those highly familiar suggesting additional sectors like self-driving cars and education for government oversight. These trends highlight a nuanced understanding: while optimism about AI's positive impact persists, so does awareness of potential risks. We responded to the government’s call for input on the forthcoming #AIActionPlan. We focused on establishing an AI-ready National Data Library. While other stakeholders may address various aspects of AI technology, we believe that developing a robust data infrastructure is fundamental to the Plan's success.  Our view - that AI has the potential to enhance public services - was also reflected in last night’s Parliamentary debate on Technology in Public Services (link in comments). But delivering these benefits requires high-quality data and robust management and governance practices.
