Odisha has achieved a significant milestone by securing the fourth position on the Anemia Mukt Bharat Scorecard for 2023-24, with an impressive score of 83.3 points. This highlights the state’s effective strategies and relentless efforts in combating anaemia through targeted interventions and nutrition improvement programs. Key Factors Behind Odisha’s Success: 1. Anaemia Mukta Lakhya Abhiyan (AMLAN): This comprehensive initiative is designed to reduce anaemia rates across the state. 2. Implementation Framework: Integrates recommendations from various guidelines into a practical framework tailored to Odisha’s needs. 3. Regular Testing: Quarterly testing of students in schools and regular testing at Urban Health Sanitation and Nutrition Days (UHSND), Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Days (VHSND), and Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs). Remote areas are covered through T3 (Test, Treat, Talk) camps. 4. Supplementation: Provides multivitamin and multimineral tablets along with Iron Folic Acid (IFA) and calcium supplements. 5. Supervised IFA Dosing: Ensures better compliance by administering IFA doses to in-school students under teacher supervision. 6. Integrated Reporting: Enhances implementation by integrating reporting with the state’s online system (DHIS). Dedication and Impact: These efforts reflect the dedication of healthcare personnel and the Odisha government’s commitment to improving nutritional standards and healthcare services. The state’s achievement on the Anemia Mukt Bharat Scorecard is a testament to these collective efforts and effective health interventions. This success serves as a model for other regions aiming to combat anaemia and improve public health outcomes. #AnemiaMuktBharat #OdishaHealthcare #PublicHealthSuccess #NutritionImprovement #HealthcareInitiatives #AMLAN #HealthandWellness #IronDeficiency #HealthyOdisha #CommunityHealth #HealthcareHeroes #PublicHealthAchievement

Just returned from Summer Vacation in the southern part of Italy (very hot) and during my vacation we received notice that InnerBuddies has been selected for the EIT Health Regulatory Pathways to Market program. This EU program is supporting healthtech start-ups and scale-ups in preparing themselves for certification (in our case IVDR and EU AI Act) and reimbursement in EU countries. For InnerBuddies, we have 2 focus areas in terms of learning how reimbursement works in the EU: - reimbursement for our existing product which targets prevention in the healthy population (by providing personalized nutrition advice based on individual gut microbiome health status) - reimbursement for our potential future product(s) which target personalized nutrition advice for people with specific diseases (based on individual gut microbiome health status and the bacteria associated with that specific disease) From experts and other health start-ups we already learned that the Netherlands is actually the most difficult country in Europe to get reimbursed for new health innovations. Some other EU countries have specific fast-track processes for health start-ups which allow you to get reimbursed much faster so anxious to learn on which EU countries we should focus first in terms of this strategy. Plus for Germany we already learned that there are different routes to reimbursement, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. So anxious to learn from the experts in terms of how we should navigate this complex environment. Unfortunately these processes take years in health, so in the meantime we are luckily pursuing our existing commercialization activities in terms of the B2B market for which I will be focused most of my time in H2 2024. #innerbuddies #gutmicrobiome #microbiome #personalizednutrition

It is systemically indoctrinated in doctors and #healthcare workers that patients are lazy and don't follow directions, so we might as well just prescribe a pill. 80% of medical schools in the US don't have a single #nutrition course as part of their curriculum, even though 9 out of 10 of the leading causes of death in the US are tied to nutrition. The #NIH has 8,000 researchers with grants who have major conflicts of interest with processed food companies and #pharma companies. At every level of #research, #education, #media, and our culture, the message is that #diet and lifestyle don't matter. It's too difficult, diseases are inevitable, it's in your genes, and willpower doesn't matter. These disempowering messages coupled with conflicts of interest and lack of education have created a system that is rigged against you, but it doesn't have to be that way forever. It's not about lecturing people, it's about correcting the system. If, for example, a woman in the US has PCOS, it should not be the "standard of care" to pound her with hormone pills and get her on the path to surgical intervention, which makes doctors a lot of money. Very little, if at all, is that patient notified that PCOS is on the spectrum of insulin resistance, and is reversible with a targeted keto diet that will increase fertility, which is what PCOS patients are told in other countries like #Norway. The #USDA should not be advising that 10% of a two-year-old's diet can be added sugar, and 93% of their diet can be ultra-processed food and they can still be healthy. The NIH should not be giving the majority of their research grants to conflicted scientists. The #FDA should not be 75% funded by pharma, which greatly impacts how they regulate food and drugs. If people had the truth about what food colorings do in their cereal, what glyphosate does to their microbiome, what agriculture is doing to crops to rob them of 70% of nutritional content, then the policy chips can fall into place.
