Specialty events as part of your overall tourism plan can be a huge promoter or a huge detractor to your focus and energy. Looking to what is already unique and wonderful about your destination is a great jumping off point to your special event or festival. Be unique, be interesting, and above all, be yourself! For example, Fall Festivals are a popular but also a dime a dozen but if you already have people coming to your area for antiques or historic buildings, then combine the two. Historic fall festivals can capture the hearts and minds of a wide audience, while also promoting visitors to return to your area time and again. ------- Follow: @Triformative Follow: @Triformative Follow: @Triformative ------- #marketingstrategist #marketingteam #marketingmanager #TonyaSweetser #TriFormative #marketingtip #marketingmind #marketingservices #marketingadvice #marketingexpert #marketingcoach #businessconsultant #businessconsulting

If ever I were to be asked by someone what the greatest thing in life I were to achieve, I would say, ''I would like to see a Gulf Hiri Hanenamo established known as Elema Morihova Festival.'' Tradition has it that, women and girls were forbidden to travel the high seas for the Hiri trade but historically our ancestral seafarers did not refuse or forbid our 10 x great-grandmothers to migrate to our shores to populate our Erema Elema land. This festival would honour those mothers and sisters who made it to our shores to give birth to us. Despite my Motu Koita bloodline, I would rather establish a Gulf Festival where we have our own Morihova Festival. Janetta Douglas an expatriate, fifty years ago, through her perseverance established the Hiri Hanenamo Quest. It has taken roots and is now the pride of many Motu Koitas. Hon Member of Parliament Mr. Powes Parkop is sad to see the absence of Gulf involvement in this special event. There is no Gulf involvement because this event was not established for them. Furthermore, it was not established on their home soil. It is a good thing that Gulf is not part of this historical event. What I can assure the HMP Mr. Parkop is that, Gulf can create its own aligned with the Hiri Hanenamo Quest. When the Elema people do, then the history of the trade will be complete. Right now, it will not be significant for the Elema people to push their way through to take centre stage. It will not seem right. It will when they have recreated their history to complement the Hiri Hanenamo Quest. I would take a bold stand if ever there was to be a committee established to recreate our very own festival called the Elema Morihova Festival. Let this be a challenge to all the offspring bloodline of the Hiri Trade. We can create this festival and make it one of Gulf's Tourist attractions in the province. Economic-wise, we need to draw in the dole and not squander elsewhere.

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM) has been awarded $200,000 as part of the final round of the Tourism Marketing & Development Recovery Program, announced today by the Maine Office of Tourism. CMTM is one of eight organizations across the state receiving funding. The program, administered by the Maine Office of Tourism with $2 million in funds awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, was established to help Maine’s travel and tourism industry recover from negative financial impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The award recipients announced include: Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce - $93,000 Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine - $200,000 Eastern Maine Development Corporation - $195,000 Heart of Ellsworth - $200,000 High Peaks Alliance - $92,000 Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation - $94,500 Moosehead Lake Region Chamber of Commerce – $70,000 Rangeley Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce - $90,000 “These projects will further strengthen the state’s visitor economy and foster a more resilient tourism industry in Maine in the coming decades,” said Heather Johnson, Commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. “We are excited to award this final round of Tourism Marketing & Development Recovery Program funding, through the EDA Travel, Tourism & Outdoor Recreation Program, to organizations whose projects will have a positive impact on our travel, tourism, and outdoor recreation sectors here in Maine,” said Hannah Collins, Deputy Director of the Office of Tourism. “These projects will also enhance the visitor experience and help to create a more equitable and competitive industry.” Recipients selected to receive an award successfully demonstrated their projects’ potential for long-term transformational impacts; campaigns that reach underrepresented, new and diverse communities of visitors; and the creation and/or improvement of tourism assets that will live on beyond the life of the grant term. Projects must be completed by September 2025. The grant supports the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine's project to launch a multi-tiered marketing campaign specifically designed to increase awareness among visitors traveling to Maine with children. This funding furthers the Museum & Theatre's ongoing mission to create transformative experiences for families, spark curiosity, and contribute to Maine’s tourism economy. Awards are funded through the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Travel, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation State Grant as consistent with the State of Maine’s scope of work and approved grants administration plan for this award. Other industry support grant programs administered and funded by the Maine Office of Tourism include Maine Communities Grants, Tourism Enterprise Marketing Grants and Special Events Grants.
