So why didn’t Media Foundation for West Africa(MFWA) say “ Ghanaian Fulani journalist, Umaru Sanda Amadu instead Ghanaian journalist?” Umaru Sanda Amadu is reminding us not to generalize and say that only one ethnic group is involved in certain crimes or jobs, like herding cattle. For instance, while Fulani people are often known for cattle rearing, many other tribes in Ghana also raise cattle, sometimes with Fulani experts helping out as the saying goes “ Obiaa w) ne master”. It’s similar to how you might find an Ewe person fishing in an area like Keta where fishing is usually linked to the Ga people. So, let’s avoid making broad assumptions and recognize that people from different backgrounds can be involved in various crimes.
Ghanaian journalist, Umaru Sanda Amadu, explains the problem with media coverage of Fulbe. He made this statement at a recent media stakeholders meeting we organised as part of a project aimed at ensuring fair and balanced media reporting of issues relating to Fulbe in #Ghana.

In a pivotal meeting between Dr Margaret Ndungu, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy, and Mr Arik Karani, President of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) and the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), a bold vision for the future of public relations and communication in Africa was discussed. Critical discussions centred around fortifying collaboration between PRSK and the Ministry to finalize Kenya’s Government Communication Policy and Strategy and driving momentum for the Public Relations and Communication Management Bill 2024. With the APRA 2025 Conference on the horizon, this meeting lays the groundwork for what promises to be a landmark event that will gather PR leaders across the continent to explore Africa's growing reputation and communication landscape. As the countdown to APRA Kenya 2025 begins, all eyes are on how these strategic conversations will reshape the industry in Kenya and beyond.
