Ever wondered how language shapes our digital experiences? As tech giants focus on connecting with Indian users, understanding the nuances of local dialects is crucial for crafting effective UX and especially now when AI is making inroads in every digital interaction. At Turian Labs, we go beyond traditional research, tapping into our design thinking DNA to uncover deeper cultural insights. Recently, our team watched English Vinglish, a film that brilliantly captures the unique structures, emotional depth, and cultural vibrancy of the English language. Language is a reflection of our identity. As we work on localizing digital experiences, we're reminded of how language can shape user connections with technology.

This is exciting! I believe language plays the most important role in enhancing user experience, esp in a country like ours where technology is being exposed to & adopted by millions rapidly. And understanding Indian English is fun to me, its not very fancy in terms of vocabulary, people use simple words to communicate but understanding the tone of it carries it all! If you understand the tone, you understood the context in which it's spoken! An example would be, "We can do this?" indicates surprise/unexpected approval and "Can we do this?" would indicate seeking permission politely or letting someone agree on the plan. Its just the way one speaks, makes the difference!
