I created a spine-chilling AI-generated short film for Halloween using six different #AI #tools. The film combines eerie visuals, haunting sounds, and unsettling atmospheres, crafting a #story where #technology collides with terror. Each tool played a role: #prompt-to-image generation, audio edit, image-to-video generation, upscaling, editing, blurring the line between reality and nightmare. The unpredictable twist leaves viewers questioning what’s real and what lurks in the shadows and raises a bigger question: Will AI eventually replace #production teams & casts, offering high-quality #content at a fraction of the cost?

https://lnkd.in/dbQmCBrW Is this the death of the filmmaking career? Despite the fear and murmuring, mostly coming from people that aren't even in industry, I'm honestly not really concerned. It's like when Chat GPT went live and everybody thought it was going to put copywriters out of business. Here were are over a year later and I don't know of any copywriters that had to fold. This new tool Sora will definitely swing an axe through the industry, however I don't think it will be as dire as some may think. While this tool could generate a lot for video needs, it still cannot automate what filmmakers and production teams ultimately bring to the table: artistry, storytelling, strategy, problem solving, and distribution just to name a few. There may still be cases where none of the above is required for a job and a company decides to replace the point-and-shoot videographer with Sora footage. But you know what? So be it. I'm no one-trick-pony. I want to work on projects where I'm sought after for my creativity, originality, storytelling capabilities, and ability to consult and make solutions for companies that are looking to use cinematic content as a real tool for growth. - Filmmakers and creatives, what are your thoughts? Will Sora destroy us, help us, or neither and have no affect?

It turns out that the viral 'Air Head' Sora video wasn't entirely the product of AI, as we were initially led to believe. Deception and lies? Jeez this was getting good. C'mon! Sora has done a decent job of showcasing what it can do through the large language model, but the lack of transparency is worrying. Turns out traditional filmmaking techniques were predominantly used on a "Air Head", the video marketed as created solely using Sora . TechRadar has the complete article here: https://lnkd.in/eJnR9nKt A recent interview with Patrick Cederberg, who managed post-production for the viral "Air Head" clip, has shed new light saying the 1-minute and 21-second video, crafted by ShyKids, combines classic editing with minimal AI assistance to create its unique look. This behind-the-scenes revelation highlights the significant manual effort involved, from rotoscoping to color correction, proving that while AI has its place, the human touch remains indispensable in creating quality video content.

🎥 AI Meets Hollywood: The Script Editor of the Future? Imagine an 🎞️ AI-powered script editor analyzing audience trends, cultural dynamics, and storytelling patterns to decide what films get made. This tech could revolutionize Hollywood’s decision-making, prioritizing blockbusters 🎬 with maximum impact. But 🤔 here’s the dilemma: can AI truly understand human creativity, emotion, and nuance? Or will it risk reducing storytelling to predictable formulas? The future of cinema might just depend on finding the perfect balance between AI insights 🤖 and human creativity 🧠. Would you trust AI to choose your next favorite movie? #AIInEntertainment 🌟 #HollywoodTech 🎥 #CreativeFuture #FilmmakingInnovation 💡 #StorytellingReimagined #ArtificialIntelligence 🤖
Every day across Hollywood, scores of film school graduates and production assistants work as script readers. Their job is to find the diamonds in the rough from the 50,000 or so screenplays pitched each year and flag any worth pursuing further. Each script runs anywhere from 100 to 150 pages, and it can take half a day to read one and write up a “coverage,” or summary of the strengths and weaknesses. With only about 50 of these scripts selling in a given year, readers are trained to be ruthless. Now the film-focused tech company Cinelytic, which works with major studios like Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures to analyze film budgets and box office potential, aims to offer script feedback with generative AI.

AI is Reshaping the Film and Media Industry. Is this exciting potential or crossing into dangerous territory? Here are some insights into the latest trends : 1. Special Effects (VFX) – Tools like Deep Learning help generate ultra-realistic explosions, environments, and even characters faster and at lower costs. 2. Scriptwriting – With tools like GPT and many other , screenwriters are using AI to brainstorm plot ideas, dialogue, and story arcs, speeding up the creative process. 3. Digital actors – AI-generated actors can now perform scenes, even bringing back deceased actors in lifelike roles. This opens up new storytelling possibilities while raising ethical questions. 4. De-aging and CGI actors – tools like de-aging technology (used in The Irishman and Indiana Jones) are making it easier to transform actors or recreate famous characters from the past. 5. Dubbing & localization – AI is revolutionizing dubbing by generating lip-synced versions of films in different languages, making content more accessible globally without losing authenticity. 6. Animation – Animation studios use AI to automate repetitive tasks, like in-betweening, saving time and allowing animators to focus on more complex creative decisions. 7. AI-driven audience insights – Studios now use AI to predict box office performance, identify trends, and fine-tune marketing strategies based on data from social media and past films. 8. Virtual production – AI plays a big role in virtual production setups, where digital environments are created in real-time. Think The Mandalorian and its stunning virtual sets! 9. The future of filmmaking – AI will eventually create entire movies from scratch—writing, directing, and editing autonomously. We’re already seeing glimpses of this future! #AIinMedia #FilmTech #AIInnovation #DigitalActors #CGI #acting #ai #animation #Producrio #hollywood #technology #cylonxfilms #maynameisblack #vfx #writing #editing

In an earlier post, we saw how a driver-less car was set alight in San Francisco by a crowd who - shall we say - was not entirely enamoured of such human-replacing technology (https://lnkd.in/gmY6ySBQ). And that was not an isolated incident. Now, in a related backlash against tech and AI, the London world premiere of a film, "The Last Screenwriter", whose main screenplay credit is "ChatGPT 4.0", has been cancelled owing to negative feedback received following the announcement of its scheduled screening. The plot sounds intriguing. A screenwriter “finds his world shaken when he encounters a cutting edge AI scriptwriting system … he soon realises AI not only matches his skills but even surpasses him in empathy and understanding of human emotions”. Of course, the film makers are trying to highlight the issue, not contribute to the problem, but that nuance seems to have been missed in the anger that the statement "the first film written entirely by AI" seems to have generated. This has interesting resonances with another "last" job type - The Last Worker, a game focusing on the last human worker at an automated fulfillment centre (although, as we know, these are far from "fulfilling" workplaces ... https://lnkd.in/gP6--A9E). Again, this is intended to highlight the issue, no doubt with some quite subtle deadpan humour. My brilliant former student Reanna Browne even interviewed the game designer on her podcast, Ready Worker One: https://lnkd.in/g3s6aWjf So, is this another signal that human-excising automation and AI are *not* the crowd pleasers that money saving-minded managers are hoping they are? Will this mean that AI-generated content needs to be produced much more stealthily? Unclear as yet. But it is interesting to see a new genre of game/film featuring the *end* of certain types of human job due to automation and AI. https://lnkd.in/gd2fPpTv

Working with clients recently, I found myself in a situation where I needed to explain budgets and provide an overview of the process required for certain jobs. It quickly became apparent that the complexity and costs involved were overwhelming for them. This is an inherent truth in our industry: making movies, especially with visual effects, has never been an inclusive endeavor. Instead, it's one of the most exclusive professions in the world, and there's a certain fascination that comes with this 'ugly truth', whether we accept it or not. I can't recall a time when someone said, 'It's so easy to become an actor,' or 'Creating a movie is a breeze.' It's usually quite the opposite. Now, being on the other side, I see that frustration, and I don't like it. I believe many other professionals feel the same way. Efforts are being made to democratize the field with tools like AI and other technologies, and these are doing an incredible job, but it's still not enough. At the end of the day, we must remind ourselves that our most powerful 'weapon' is not just our knowledge of cutting-edge technology or our expertise. Rather, it's our empathy. As artists, our primary role is to make people feel good and help them realize their dreams.

EYES O|O - AI Film 📽️ 🍿 I’m so excited to finally share a conceptual film I made a month ago! The idea was to explore human emotions with the help of AI and dive into what it really means to be human. And what better way to capture raw emotions than through the windows to the soul—human eyes? Special thanks to Dmytro Nechepurenko for great sound design 🔊 Here’s what I learned during the creative process ⚡ : - Combined advanced AI techniques with traditional VFX and developed a new flow to blend them together - Advanced ComfyUI flows for better eyes/face controls - Generated couple hundred AI videos to finetune face/eyes animations and control transitions - Screenwriting and Editing - working to improve them in every film - Improve upscaling techniques Hope you enjoyed it! #ai #aifilm #lumaai #klingai #runway #elevenlabs
