Let us introduce: The winners of the Nordic Energy Challenge 2024! For the first time in Nordic Energy Challenge history, we have a shared first place in the winners' stand. Congratulations to Julia Kirch Kirkegaard and Tom Cronin, as well as the KXT Team, led by Rune Kirt! The jury selected both proposals as winners because of the unmistakable potential of them working together, as they supplement each other to a high extent. An excerpt from the jury's motivation reads: "Both proposals embrace the crucial need for engaging citizens in large-scale renewable energy projects. While Julia’s and Tom's planning tool incorporates social parameters for the feasibility assessment of comprehensive energy projects, the KXT Team introduces a tool for simplifying the complexity of renewable energy projects through visualization and digital arts." Given the clear connections between the two winning proposals, the jury encourages the projects to collaborate in the future to maximise each other's competencies. We would also like to congratulate Xiaolei Bian and Changfu Zou on their third place for their idea "ChargeForward: Empowering citizens with AI to enhance battery health and sustainability". Nordisk Energiforskning looks forward to following up on the development of the exciting proposals. Thank you to all applicants for participating in the Nordic Energy Challenge and best of luck in future commitments! I'm more than thrilled to announce that our project, "Resilient Operation of Active Distribution Networks Dominated Power Systems," has received funding from the Independent Research Fund Denmark under their "Independent Green Research" call! 🌱🔋 As we transition towards a 100% renewables-based power system, the existing system will undergo big changes. Distribution grids are evolving into Active Distribution Networks that have the potential to significantly contribute to a stable and secure operation of the power system. In this project, we will challenge the existing operation paradigms, by exploring non-hierarchical, distributed controls seeking to enhance the efficiency, stability, and #resilience of future power systems. Our goal is to develop innovative methods and tools to make the power grid more resilient against faults, disturbances, and cyberattacks. https://lnkd.in/dE3YuJ46 A huge thank you to the Independent Research Fund Denmark for believing in our project. Excited for the journey ahead! 🚀 DTU - Technical University of Denmark, DTU Wind and Energy Systems #GreenEnergy #Renewables #PowerSystems #Innovation #ResearchFunding #SustainableFuture #GridResilience
