Yesterday, I attended the Vancouver Sales Leadership event organized by Maximizer and it was both insightful and entertaining. C.V., the Head of Field Sales for Red Bull Canada, shared key points on becoming a successful sales leader. Two things stood out to me: Self-awareness: Identify areas for improvement, accept them, and work on them to become a better professional each day. Trust the process: You will become a sales manager when you’re ready for it. There’s a broad set of skills needed to prepare someone for this role, and there’s no fast track to it.

Those big-time winners you admire so much? They were once exactly where you are right now. At some point in their journey they faced the same -> doubts -> fears -> challenges But here’s the thing— comparing yourself to them won’t get you there any faster. In fact, it’ll only slow you down. Because when you focus on what they have and what you don’t you miss out on something crucial. ✔️your own progress. ✔️how far you’ve come. The wins, big and small that have brought you to this moment. The growth you’ve experienced along the way. And the incredible runway you still have ahead of you. Your journey is unique. Your story is yours to write. So, instead of comparing start celebrating. Celebrate how much you’ve accomplished already. Celebrate the lessons you’ve learned. And celebrate the fact that you’re just getting started. The path to living your ideal life is still wide open. Keep going. Focus on you. And remember: you’re on your way to becoming the person others will one day admire. 🙌 [or…you might be there already! ] —— do you celebrate your wins and your accomplishments? you should! When was the last time you took a moment to pause and reflect on your recent wins? We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle, constantly striving for what’s next. Spending time wishing for things we don’t have. And, when we finally achieve them, we don’t take a moment to celebrate. Today - we change that. This is an invitation — to pause and reflect on your recent wins both BIG and small. What achievements have you made? How are they contributing to your journey? Take a moment to add it to your calendar 🗓️ on Monday morning so you start your week with an inspiring reminder of how far you’ve come. And why stop there? Consider adding a recurring 10-minute reflection block every Friday. A simple system to help you end each week on a high note. As inspiration, here are a few things that my clients celebrated in September: 🎉 an entrepreneur surpassed year end revenue goals 3 months early (since regularly taking Friday afternoons off) 🎉 a VP who wanted to increase her leadership influence beyond her role and company was appointed to a prominent external committee 🎉 a founder & CEO booked his first 2 week vacation in 5 years 🎉 an SVP transitioned into an EVP role and now, 6 months later, has exceeded their targets, while significantly increasing the team’s engagement and retention scores What are you celebrating this week?

It's official, Focus Business Development Powered by Sandler Training is growing!! Please join me in welcoming Ralph Sachs to our Sandler team in Richmond. The Focus Business Development team now has a combined 64 years of Sandler Experience as clients and facilitators! That's a lot of knowledge and mileage to support growing businesses level up. We're excited to support clients in the Virginia markets with our combined experience, expertise, and diverse skill sets. To get to know Ralph better, read his message below: Throughout my career, I’ve sold advertising, houses, heating and air conditioning systems, and even cultural change. For the last 25 years, I’ve been with Albemarle Heating & Air, most recently serving as the General Manager. My sales career began when I was just 10 years old, prospecting for customers on my TV Guide route. It's been 18 years since I was first introduced to Sandler, and it's been a transformative journey ever since. Everything changed when I read “You Can’t Teach a Kid to Ride a Bike at a Seminar.” I was instantly hooked. The Sandler tools didn’t just make me a better salesperson; they made me a better manager, a better husband, and a better father. Not the best, mind you—only better. Being the best is a never-ending journey. Now, joining Mike and Patrick at Sandler by Focus Business Development, I have the incredible opportunity to use the Sandler tools I've learned to help salespeople, sales leaders, and businesses improve. I want to help them be better—not just at work, but at home too. One thing I often say is, “I get more satisfaction out of hearing how the tools and concepts from Sandler have helped people in their personal lives than in their professional roles.” It's incredibly fulfilling to know that what we do can have such a profound impact. My journey with Sandler has been about growth and betterment, and I’m excited to continue this journey, helping others achieve their best selves, one step at a time.
We are excited to announce Ralph Sachs as a new Associate with Sandler by Focus Business Development in Richmond, Virginia! Ralph brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his successful career in various marketing, sales and leadership positions. He is a true life-long learner with a growth mindset. We are fortunate and grateful to have him on the team to help us take our clients and business to the next level. Patrick Carroll Mike Carroll

A note from Sam Senior our Founder about this award for our GTM Leader James Kaikis Huge congratulations to James Kaikis being listed in Pavilion's top 50 CROs to watch. James has completely transformed TestBox in just the last 9 months. Under his leadership we've: - Defined a new way of delivering customer value under a unified GTM motion. As the leader of the function he owns, Marketing, Sales, Solutions, Value Realization and Implementation. This is no small feat. He has created a unified experience internally and externally with our customers where there are no handoffs and no throwing things over the wall. Instead, every single function is aligned with the same message and same outcomes to drive towards. - James doesn't let things sit. He's provocative in a productive way. Look at his LinkedIn where he has frequently called out the Solutions Engineering profession and their need to evolve to get a seat at the table. He doesn't just say what is wrong, he provides suggestions and input to help others. - We've 4x both the business and the GTM org in the last six months - We jokingly call him BDR of the year, he has brought in a large number of all our most promising prospects - He has his fingerprints on everything we do. Whether that's our marketing messaging, our sales playbooks, or value realization. He's able to deliver across the board consistently. - I've also worked in places where people work hard, damn hard, and James is up there with the best of them. He holds accountability as a true value of his and never lets it go. - He's gone on quite the journey to get fairly technical on our product and understand things that are not easy. I'm proud to have him as our GTM leader.

I'm humbled to be nominated by Pavilion as a Top 50 CRO to watch for the second year in a row! Being a revenue leader is a never-ending journey. We're constantly building, hitting one quota and moving on to the next, and leveraging our past experiences, intuition, and creativity to tackle situations that many of us haven't faced before. It's a life of constant change and whiplash, and we're tasked with making it repeatable and predictable. Thriving in it takes a few things: 🤝 Building Trust: Whether it's with customers, teammates, investors, or partners, trust is the foundation of everything we do. It means delivering on promises, fostering transparency, and aligning on shared goals—because when trust is built, growth follows. 🏔 Embracing Resilience: Revenue leadership comes with its share of highs and lows. The ability to stay focused, adapt, and keep moving forward—despite the unknowns—is key to long-term success and sanity. 👊 Having a Tribe: I'm fortunate to learn from and be surrounded by incredible revenue leaders like Leslie Greenwood, Stephanie Valenti, Samantha McKenna, Neil W., Mike Merrill ☁️, Jason Keever, Jim Ciortan, Stevie Case, Ryan Longfield, Rob Joyner, Randi-Sue Deckard 🔬, Tiffany Gonzalez, Andrew Hahn, 🐶 Jacco van der Kooij, 🏄♂️ Scott Leese, Snowflake Rosen, Bijay Alex Mathew, Ryan Phillips, and so many others. And a special thanks to Sam Jacobs, Kathleen Booth, and the rest of the Pavilion team for creating a community where these relationships can thrive. Most importantly, I'm thankful for the tribe I get to serve at Osano - the support from our cofounders Arlo and Scott, our exec team - Ryan, Rachael, Joe, Skye, Dru, Brian, GTM leadership team - Jake, Caitlin, Caroline, Joshua, Julie, Caitlin, Chris, Audrey, our investors, and the entire company - we all own revenue :). Hope to see you all at Pavilion’s GTM2024 in just a few weeks!

More doors closing in retail and the people affected are staying positive and making the most of their time with each other 💖 That's what a retail family is all about. Please support the store managers, district managers, supervisors and the staff looking for work across the country. Your retail skills are valuable and absolutely transferable into almost any field. For anyone hiring here is a day in the life....You talk to anyone who comes in. You watch the KPIs and coach the staff to drive performance. You teach life skills to entry level employees and hold accountable grown adults. You multi-task like you have a legion of people in the building while really managing payroll to the quarter hour. You have difficult conversations and console your people with every day struggles in and out of work. You havetalk professionally and without judgment to individuals who lost their mind over a policy you can't change. You keep the place clean and visually gorgeous every day. And you do it all with a smile and an earpiece on. I see you. I support you. I am here if you want to comment, complain, or cry. That's what family is for. It is all about our people. #retail #love #thestruggleisreal #hiring
We got the news on Wednesday that our location is closing. I have to be honest I’m still in that denial stage… but the first thing that came to my mind was “ omg my people ! “ and how I was going to break down this news to them. It hasn’t been easy but my team and I came together and we decided we are going to make the best of it. We are going to celebrate all the small wins from now til our doors close and cherish all our moments together💫
