With our four-legged friends there’s a beautiful absence of some undesirable and distinctly human traits. Along with human intelligence comes the proportionate reprehensible potential for evil behavior, i.e. malice for malice’s sake. Instead, pet cats (many of us see them as family members) offer us reciprocally healthy — many cat lovers would even go as far as to describe them as largely symbiotic — relationships, especially for those suffering physical and/or mental illness. Yet many, if not most, people cannot at all relate to cat fans finding preciousness and other qualities in their beloved pets, including a non-humanly innocence, that make losing them someday such a horrible heartbreak. Only when their over-populations are greatly reduced in number through consistent publicly-funded spay/neuter programs, might these beautiful animals’ potentially soothing, even therapeutic, presence be truly appreciated rather than taken for granted or even resented. Human apathy, the throwaway mentality/culture and even a bit of public hostility toward cats typically result in population explosions thus their inevitable neglect and suffering, including severe illness and starvation. In the meantime, there apparently is a subconscious yet tragic human-nature propensity to perceive the value of life in relation to the conditions enjoyed or suffered by that life. With the mindset of feline disposability, it might be: ‘Oh, there’s a lot more whence they came’.

THREE life lesson's from a Jamaican stray CAT: Recently I found a box filled with kittens and decided to take them up and care for them. Cats can be so influencial in our daily lives that they teach us just how to remain human in our kindest endeavors. Filled with wonder and amazement I decided to share household grocery items with them to test what they will or won't eat. To my surprise the cats ate a "bulla" A sometimes dry sugary cake made with assorted ingredients, bulla is one of the cheapest snacks you can buy at a Jamaican grocery shop. A household treat that can pair with anything. I digress - cats are remarkable and the abundance of knowledge is practically precious gems. ..... Always be curious - cats remind us that life is full of mystery and we should stay present and prepared in the moments ahead. ..... Maintain your appearance - cats clean themselves an annoying times a day even to the point of sometimes an extreme makeover. It's always important to keep a fresh outlook. ..... Struggles happen - cats embrace fear with confidence and courage. One of the most self assured creatures. Cats focus a lot on their surroundings and maintain a determined outlook. Just wanted to pop in to share what has happened since I was laid off in January - some good and some bad : 💔 One of my cats started acting very off - we found out he had an agressive cancer. We had to say goodbye before we knew what it was all the way. 💔 My senior dog who had been dealing with cognitive issues and arthritis had his first seizure while I ran a 20-min errand. I came home to him no longer able to stand and spinning on the floor in his own blood from biting his lip and tongue and trying to get up. We had to say goodbye that day. 💍 My partner of 7 years and I got engaged! He has been so incredibly supportive throughout this and believes in me 110% that I will make things work out and just wants me to be happy doing whatever I do. 🐶😺 We had been waiting for a Boston terrier to be ready to be adopted from the rescue we usually adopt dogs from (puppy mill dog surrendered pregnant), and she was a perfect fit with our family when we met her. We also adopted a tiny calico with a big personality from Kizzy's Place Rescue (shoutout to Blake Martin - thanks for all you guys do for animals!) 🏡 I've crossed a ton of garden and home renovation projects off my to-do list. 🔮 I know the world doesn't always work like this, but I'm pleasantly surprised with how things have been working out for me since I was laid off and I told myself I deserve to have things just work out - not that I haven't done any work for the good I've had.
