Building technology is about founders creating what they love. Building a product is about creating something others love to use. Commercialization is about building something people will pay for. These three phases are related but distinct. For deep tech companies, these phases often have minimal overlap and unfold sequentially. At Two Small Fish Ventures, we are thoughtful and experienced investors. We understand that starting to generate revenue—or choosing not to—at the right time is one of the secrets to a company’s success that very few have mastered. No revenue? No problem. Most of the time, founders get lost in trying to build what they love, hoping that the market will gravitate towards their passion. In Hindi we have a saying "Asli heere ki pehchan sirf johri ko hi hoti hei" loosely translates to "Only a jeweller can recognize the worth of a diamond" Allen Lau - your your last line in the blog reminds me of that. Keep up the great work and believing in people's passion. 🙌
