IS SIP Good in rising market????? Check this article (in Comment section) this will clear your doubt. Underlying theory of SIP is that It averages out the price over the period of time, if market is rising continuously then your average is higher than previous one. If market goes down, then your average is lower than previous. (Check the Pic) On one hand, if we follow the black line of constant market growth, the SIP has no particular advantage against lumpsum investing. The only lever to increase corpus is buying early. Finally, we have the red curve where the market grows at great compounding speed in the first 10 years but then tapers off as it absorbs the higher valuations. This trajectory can be disastrous for investing under SIP. #Learning #Investment

I am thrilled to share that my research paper, 'Trade Informativeness of Foreign Investors in India,' co-authored with Samarpan Nawn, CFA, has been published in the Journal of Asset Management. The paper examines the performance of foreign investors’ (FI) portfolio alphas in the Indian stock market. We investigate whether Direct Market Access (DMA) can help decrease the underperformance of FI portfolios. While our findings show that DMA reduces the underperformance for shorter holding periods, trade informativeness remains negative across all holding periods, ranging from one day to one year. Additionally, the trading behavior of FI continues to exhibit positive feedback, highlighting an informational disadvantage. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my co-author, reviewers, and the editorial team, including Dan diBartolomeo and Marielle de Jong , for their invaluable guidance and support throughout this journey. Market Dynamics and Valuation Metrics A fascinating aspect of my analysis was observing Barito Pacific’s PE Ratio skyrocket in 2022 to 2603.45, a number that immediately signals investor expectations of future growth or potential concerns of overvaluation. The dynamics of the Price to Book Value ratio further intrigued me, showcasing the shifting sands of market perceptions and asset valuations over time. Operational Efficiency Uncovered Delving deeper, the EBITDA trends painted a picture of fluctuating operational profitability, with periods of efficiency gains shadowed by subsequent declines. The Fixed Asset and Inventory Turnover ratios provided a window into the company's strategic operational shifts, highlighting its journey towards optimizing asset utilization and inventory management. Financial Health and Performance The analysis wouldn't be complete without examining the Return on Equity (ROE) and Return on Assets (ROA), where a significant dip in 2022 raised flags about the company’s ability to leverage its assets and equity in generating profits. Yet, the consistent Debt to Equity ratio across the years reassured me of the company's stable financial leverage strategy amidst the ebbs and flows of profitability. Cash Flow Insights Perhaps the most revealing was the Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC), persistently negative, underscoring Barito Pacific's prowess in managing cash flows efficiently — a vital sign of operational excellence and liquidity.
