𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 Last week, I had the privilege of representing our team at the Study Information Day at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Lörrach. The event brought together curious, motivated students exploring careers in engineering and technology. Lisa Marinho and I had the pleasure of connecting with bright and talented candidates who could one day join us and help drive innovation in Delta Electronics EMEA. What stood out in these conversations was the mindset of Generation Z. They’re not just looking for a job—they want to: 💡 Contribute to a better future. 🗣️ Shape their work environment with their voice. 🔧 Use technology to solve meaningful challenges. Hearing one student say, “𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵” reminded me how vital it is to engage with young talent. These individuals have the potential to bring fresh ideas, energy, and passion to our organisation. Attracting and nurturing the right talent isn’t just about filling roles—it’s about building the future of our organization. Who knows? This is not surprising, given that the hightech sector is a crucial pillar of the Dutch economy, responsible for approximately 50% of all R&D investments in the country. To (continue) bolster this leadership role, more is needed. This requires knowledge sharing, connecting the entire chain, involvement from the education sector, the implementation of Big Science projects, and forging new collaborations. Therefore International collaborations are more important than ever. 🌿 Successful networking - international Research & Technology organizations (RTOs) make it happen 🌿 Research Career paths are an important topic for every RTO nowadays. Our meeting - short and efficient as always - headed for important questions were ❔ What career opportunities exist for specialists (career paths beyond the “typical” management career)? ❔ What are the strategic needs behind? What implications and benefits of these career paths exist for the organization? ❔ How to communicate the possible career paths in a good way? Key findings: 👍 Support for individual career development and learning is essential 👍 Clear roles and career paths, transparently and regularly communicated are success factors 👍 Qualitative + quantitative analysis of careers can help to improve concepts A deep dive with lots of content that will be worked on. Richard Pala’s journey at CESI spans 14 years of growth, challenges, and collaboration. He began as an intern, supporting the Sales Director of the Testing Division. “I started with a five-week project scouting new clients, but soon after, I was offered the chance to stay longer. I worked on preparing sales budgets and monitoring performance throughout the year,” Richard recalls. Looking back, Richard is enthusiastic about the opportunity he was given to take on tasks beyond Sales & Marketing analysis. “I’ve always appreciated the variety of activities and projects I’ve worked on, which have enriched me both professionally and personally,” he shares. Today, he is responsible for managing investments and strategic projects for the KEMA Labs and CESI space business units, soon extending to both Kema Labs and CESI Space. “I work closely with site managers across locations like Milan, Berlin, Arnhem, Prague, Mannheim and Chalfont to define and manage a portfolio of projects. These range from strategic business development initiatives, like facility expansions, to essential risk mitigation and maintenance efforts. The goal is always to deliver results on time while optimizing resources,” he explains. Among his most rewarding projects was the HVDC facility upgrade in Mannheim. “It was a two-and-a-half-year challenge tied to one of CESI’s largest contracts. We had to expand our testing capacity to meet stringent client requirements within tight deadlines. It meant frequent travel, countless hotel stays, and constant collaboration with German and Italian colleagues. Overcoming every challenge together was incredibly rewarding.” But working at CESI isn’t just about challenges—there are real benefits too.
