State location costs for air traffic have recently risen dramatically in Germany. For this reason, air traffic in Germany is recovering more slowly than in most European countries. We need the German government to sustainably strengthen Germany as an air traffic location and foster that important economic engine instead of continuously slowing it down while also failing to provide urgently needed support for sustainable aviation fuels. There are still no sufficient SAF production facilities which makes it impossible to fulfill the German government’s defined e-kerosene blending quota from 2026. Therefore, the government should withdraw from that solitary action. #BARIG #Germany #economy #aviation #charges Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr Volker Wissing Oliver Luksic Bundesministerium des Innern und für Heimat Bundesministerium der Finanzen BDL – Bundesverband der Deutschen Luftverkehrswirtschaft e. Can COMAC Overcome Entry Barriers and Face Supply Chain Challenges to Break the Boeing and Airbus Duopoly? 🌀COMAC's Opportunity: - COMAC, a Chinese state-owned plane maker, has the potential to disrupt the Airbus and Boeing duopoly in the passenger jet market over the next decade, according to Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE). 🌀Current Market Conditions: - Airbus and Boeing are the primary suppliers to airlines. - Airbus is struggling with production due to record orders. - Boeing is under regulatory scrutiny. 🌀COMAC C919 Jet - The narrow-body C919 jet competes with Airbus' A320 and Boeing's 737 MAX. 🌀Market Prospects: - COMAC has an opportunity to break the duopoly into a triopoly due to Airbus' production challenges and Boeing's problems. - COMAC's planes currently fly mainly within China and with one Indonesian airline. - The company is seeking certification from Europe's aviation regulator and looking for international customers. 🌀Challenges for COMAC: - Industry sources highlight that COMAC needs benchmark certifications from the US or EU and more efficient planes to make international inroads. - Despite these challenges, demand for aircraft in China and neighboring regions is strong, giving COMAC a chance to make significant progress. 🌀Global Travel Surge: - Post-pandemic travel surge has led to airlines ordering new planes. - Supply chain issues, labor shortages, and engine problems are causing delays in jet deliveries, garnering attention for COMAC. 🌀Airbus and Boeing Status: - Airbus' production slots for its A320 family are sold out until the end of the decade. - Boeing faces safety crises, regulatory investigations, potential prosecution, and production issues with the 737 MAX. 🌀DAE's Position: - Boeing's problems are affecting DAE, which has a fleet of 500 aircraft. - DAE expects to receive only half the number of aircraft from Boeing this year as initially committed. 🌀Future Outlook - Tarapore predicts that in 30 years, the industry will no longer be dominated by a duopoly, with COMAC playing a more significant role. Will other airlines consider purchasing the C919, manufactured by the state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), given the extensive waiting lists for Airbus and Boeing aircraft until the end of the decade? While this move might seem advantageous against international competitors, the C919 relies on engines and numerous systems sourced from foreign suppliers. This dependency could potentially expose COMAC to global supply chain challenges similar to those faced by its more established rivals, particularly as production increases, with reports indicating that at least 40% of the aircraft's components are internationally sourced. https://lnkd.in/dVdan_kp
