Today, on National Caregivers Day, let's honor the unsung heroes who devote themselves to caring for others.❤️Here are 5 meaningful ways to say THANK YOU to the caregivers in your life: 1️⃣ Simply say thank you – a greeting card, a gift, or a few words of appreciation can mean the world. 2️⃣ Spend time with a caregiver – show them they're not alone by offering your presence and support. Listen to them; visit them; validate them. 3️⃣ Make it possible for caregivers to take a break – offer respite care or assistance to give them much-needed rest. Check out what the nonprofit organization Hope Grows PGH has to offer! 4️⃣ Actively demonstrate your support – whether it's running errands or lending a listening ear, show your solidarity in tangible ways. Cook them a meal, run an errand for them, or offer to clean their home. 5️⃣ Encourage a caregiver's self-care – remind them to prioritize their own well-being amidst their caregiving duties. Take them to a movie or get them a spa gift certificate! 🔗https://lnkd.in/gXDc7b-e #NationalCaregiversDay #CelebrateCaregivers

When guests transition out of KARM programs into their newly restored routines, it can be challenging for them to feel what it's like to be on their own again. KARM's new Aftercare program is their solution to prevent guests from relapsing into homelessness. Susan is the first person to sign up for Aftercare! Keep reading in the shared post to learn more about Susan's story. #ministrymonday #karm #knoxarearescueministries #rescue #relationships #restoration #knoxvillezoo #karmstores #donate #shop #volunteer #outreach #nonprofit #christiannonprofit #breakingcycles #buildingrelationships #homelessoutreach
Meet Susan. She’s a U.S. veteran’s widow who came to KARM when her apartment burned, and is the first person to sign up for our AfterCare program. What is AfterCare? Well, we're glad you asked. You see, at KARM, we’ve learned the transition from being a guest to living in housing can be jarring. Too often, former guests go from being surrounded by people, support and services to being alone. Sadly, this transition can have devastating consequences, even resulting in relapsing into homelessness. AfterCare seeks to ease this transition and help men and women continue their journey toward a fully restored, abundant life and to thrive outside of KARM. Our staff and volunteers accomplish this goal by making home visits and helping former guests connect to a thriving church; community resources; and social & service opportunities in their community. When @Katie Hicks, AfterCare Coordinator, asked Susan, “If money weren’t an issue, what would you do?”, Susan answered, “I’d go to the zoo.” So, imagine our delight when Zoo Knoxville said "yes" to our request for two tickets for Susan and her KARM volunteer, as part of their free ticket program for 501c3 organizations. When Susan was at KARM, she came to learn about and trust in Jesus as her Lord and Savior! Katie has this to say about Suan: "She radiates positivity, brightens every room she enters, and you can't help but smile when you walk with her." We look forward to seeing how the Lord continues to use AfterCare for His purposes and glory.

For me, volunteering for Alzheimer’s advocacy and fundraising is deeply personal. Having lost my mother, grandmothers, and my godmother to the disease, I’ve witnessed firsthand the devastating impact it has on families. The journey of caregiving was challenging, filled with moments of sadness, frustration, and love. It was during this time that I realized the urgent need for support and research to combat this debilitating disease. On Thursday, April 25 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I will join the Alzheimer's Association Louisiana Chapter, the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) and fellow advocates from across the state to meet with policymakers to share their stories and advance policies to improve the lives of Louisianans impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Alzheimer’s and other dementia have a growing impact on state health systems, budgets, and workforces. By 2025, the number of Louisiana adults age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s is projected to increase by 110,000. In 2023, Alzheimer’s and other dementias cost American taxpayers an estimated $345 billion, and the cost is projected to rise to nearly $1 trillion by 2050. Louisiana also has 200,000 caregivers that provide over 363 million hours of unpaid care. …from the Diary of a Tax Advisor… GIFT AID? £££HOW MUCH???😳 Over the past few days, I was surprised to learn that many generous charity supporters are not yet au fait with the benefits of the UK Gift Aid Scheme and that by using it correctly, their charitable contributions can make an even greater impact! 🌟 ✨ What is Gift Aid? Gift Aid is a scheme that allows charities to reclaim 25p every time an eligible taxpayer donates £1, at no extra cost to the donor!!! It's a simple yet powerful way to boost the value of your donations. 🌐 How does it work? When you make a donation, ensure you're a UK taxpayer, and the charity will ask if you want to Gift Aid your donation. By saying yes, you’re allowing the charity to claim back 25% of your donation from the government. 🤝 Benefits for Donors: Maximize Impact: Your generosity goes further, as charities receive an additional 25% without any extra cost to you. That means your £100 donation becomes £125 for the charity! Ease of Giving: It's a hassle-free process – a small “tick” box during donation, and you've made a big difference. The rest is taken care of by the charity. Tax Relief for You: Gift Aid doesn't just benefit the charity; it benefits you too! When you make a Gift Aid donation, it's considered as if you had already deducted basic rate tax from the money. This can potentially reduce your tax bill if you're a higher or additional rate UK taxpayer. Sustainability: Monthly Gift Aid donations by direct debit, help charities plan for the future, ensuring ongoing support for their projects. 🌈 Encourage Philanthropy: By embracing Gift Aid, you become part of a community of philanthropic individuals contributing to positive change. It's a collective effort to make a real difference in the world. 🌍 🚀 Make a Difference Today! Gift Aid transforms your charitable contributions into a force for good, benefiting both you and the causes you believe in. Spread the word, encourage others to Gift Aid, and together let's make a positive change in our communities, maximize our impact, and build a brighter future together! If you are still deciding what charity to support as your Charity of the Year, please join me in supporting MAD-Aid, led by Victoria Dunford, BEM, with its lifechanging social projects that the charity is in process of completing / in the pipeline to make hospitals a better place, in moments when they are every newborn parents’ worst nightmare…. 🙏🏻 https://lnkd.in/eHuEgESM Because tax efficiency (even when donating) is complicated enough! #taxadvisors #heretohelp #giftaid #makeadifference

Grandparents and children have a special connection that is proven to both make grandparents live longer, and also make children more emotionally resilient. Grandparents lavish their children and grandchildren with an endless supply of love, gifts, and candy which they always seem to have on them. Today the favor is returned as grandparents are honored and receive gratitude for their strength, kindness, nurturing, and wisdom. 👴🏻🧓🏻💐🔨 Every family shares their own history and traditions so, naturally, ways to celebrate this day vary. Whether it is going through photo albums, asking grandma to bake your favorite treat, spending time with your grandparents at the park, fixing the car in the garage with grandpa, we’re sure you’ll find something to do together! Unfortunately, some grandparents have no one to share the day with. Volunteering at an old-age home is a great way to give back and so are community group projects that help the elderly feel included and like they are a part of a family. ❗❓: Did you know? 58% – the percentage of grandparents who say they care for their grandchildren because they enjoy doing it. #GrandparentsDay #Grandparents #FamilyTime #QualityTimeWithTheGrandparents #GrandpaTime #GrandmaTime #FunWithGrandparents #GrandparentsFun #NationalGrandparentsDay #ZempelInsurance #LakeMillsWI #LakeMillsInsurance #LakeMillsOffice

"I don’t know if this was your experience, but as a child, I remember waking up on Christmas morning to a tree lit with colorful lights and a few gifts waiting underneath. The excitement, the laughter—it was pure magic. But for so many families in our community, this moment doesn’t exist." Here at BOSS, we meet parents who spend sleepless nights worrying, not about what they’ll give their kids for the holidays, but if they’ll have a warm place to sleep or enough to eat. We meet kids who only know the holidays as another day of hardship without the joy, hope, and love that so many of us treasure. That’s why we created the Adopt A Family: Hope for the Holiday Drive—because everyone deserves to feel the magic of the season and to know they’re seen, valued, and supported. When you participate, you’re not just giving gifts—you’re giving hope. You’re showing a parent that they’re not alone. You’re reminding a child that they matter. This holiday season, let’s ensure that every family feels the warmth of community and the joy of the season. Whether you adopt a family, make a donation, or volunteer, your kindness can light up someone’s holiday. 📩 Learn how to get involved: https://lnkd.in/ggNpJmCe Let’s be the reason someone smiles this holiday season. #AdoptAFamily #HopeForTheHolidays #BOSSCommunity #HolidayGiving

“Beyond Relaxation: Volunteering with Tribal & Orphan Children Fulfills the Soul” Those children came to this world, but to be an orphan or to be born into a place with limited opportunities is not their mistake. Yet, they face challenges that most of us cannot even imagine. In our bustling lives, we often seek moments of relaxation and tranquility. We plan trips, book vacations and look forward to escaping the routine. However, there is a way to find true fulfillment and relaxation that goes beyond mere recreation: spending a day with tribal or orphaned children who desperately need our support. Imagine gathering your colleagues and friends, not for a usual outing, but for a meaningful day dedicated to bringing joy and support to these children. Just one day can make a world of difference in their lives and leave your heart feeling fulfilled and content. Many corporate organizations pride themselves on their contributions to society. Yet, these efforts often remain concentrated within urban areas. It's time to extend our helping hands to the suburban, hillside and remote village regions where help is desperately needed. By reaching out to these areas, we can ensure that our efforts truly make a difference where they are needed most. So many of us pray for good fortune and wish for a happy life. Let us pray our wishes to God, and as He/she fulfills them, let's offer our gratitude by providing for these needy children in various forms. Be it food, clothing, books, or educational support, every small contribution counts. When we serve those in need, we are indeed serving God. Organize a day where you and your colleagues visit this kind of children’s. Spend time with them, understand their world, and provide the support they need. Your visit will not only bring smiles to their faces but also offer you a deep sense of inner peace and satisfaction. Be the Joy bring the joy....
