CEO @Dapper | We help B2B brands create Marketing Engines that generate pipeline

Your CEO keeps asking for more leads. But only focusing on lead volume can hurt business results. It pushes marketers to use tactics like eBooks and whitepapers to collect contact details from uninterested prospects (and present them as leads) If you do marketing right, you will actually see Sales KPIs improve. Before we get to the sales KPIs; what does “doing marketing right” actually look like? It means becoming famous in your niche: Consistently serving your ideal customers content that shows you can solve a certain problem. This builds familiarity and trust within your target audience, so when they’re ready to buy, they think of you. If you do THAT, you won’t just see more leads. You’ll see: 𝟭. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The right person at the right company with the right problem reaching out to you. 𝟮. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝗻-𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: Seeing you online hundreds of times builds trust, making it easier to convert a lead. 𝟯. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀: You’ll be at the top of their shortlist, reducing the need for convincing in the sales process. 𝟰. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀: The established trust allows you to sell more. To sum it up: If you focus on the wrong KPIs, marketing will become a driver of useless contact details. If you focus on the right KPIs, marketing will become a driver of revenue. __ PS: This handwriting says I should’ve been a doctor

Quality over volume every time. no point of generating leads that wont close, just a waste of time

Great point! I think large platforms like HubSpot and LinkedIn have contributed to this issue by labeling content downloads as "leads." Most people just want to read the ebook—they’re rarely ready to buy.

100% agree! I still get potential clients asking for a guaranteed number of leads upfront, but that totally misses the point of inbound marketing in my opinion. It’s all about building trust & offering value so the right people come to you when they’re ready.

Totally agree with you Tycho Luijten If marketing is done correctly, leads numbers will decrease, but their quality will be much higher. Actually, AI has been our best friend when we need to automatically qualify and capture leads.. Just like in creating content, a high number of leads isn't always better. You want quality. And that starts with having clear content and marketing goals in addition to KPIs
