Still time to donate and help me reach my goal! 1. **Prevalence**: Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of dementia cases. It's estimated that over 6 million people in the United States are living with Alzheimer's. 2. **Progressive Nature**: Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that leads to memory loss, cognitive decline, and behavioral changes. Symptoms gradually worsen over time, often starting with mild memory problems and advancing to severe impairment. 3. **Risk Factors**: Age is the greatest risk factor for Alzheimer's, with most people diagnosed being 65 or older. Other risk factors include genetics, family history, and certain health conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. 4. **Symptoms**: Early symptoms include difficulty remembering recent events, confusion about time or place, trouble understanding visual images, and problems with speaking or writing. As the disease progresses, individuals may experience severe memory loss, difficulty performing daily tasks, and changes in mood and behavior. 5. **Treatment and Management**: While there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's, treatments are available to help manage symptoms. Medications can temporarily improve or slow the progression of symptoms. Non-drug approaches, such as cognitive therapy, lifestyle changes, and support from caregivers, are also important in managing the disease.
🧡 A Purposeful Stride: Journeying Through Alzheimer's with Donna 🧡 Did it ever cross your mind that Alzheimer's could knock on your family's door? June brings this shadowy specter into the glaring daylight for Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness. Think of it: A beloved family member's history slowly evaporating, like morning dew under a relentless sun. That's precisely the odyssey my mother-in-law, Donna, is trekking, with us in tow. How do we react? We lace up our shoes of patience and press on, our hands clasped in unyielding support. This path is dotted with throes of grief, yet enriched by the purest love - a bitter-and-sweet reality binding us tighter than ever before. If there's one thing this journey has imprinted on our hearts, it's this: Cherish every moment. And dream of a world untainted by Alzheimer's. For Donna, I'm putting my best foot forward to raise funds for Alzheimer's research. We're a single donation away from a brighter tomorrow, a world where no family is marked by this ordeal. Will you join me? Every stride counts. 🚶♂️❤️ https://lnkd.in/eFhTYE-M

It's not just grandma and grampa we need to save on National Donation Day. It's all of us! June 20th, The Longest Day, is the day with the most light and the day we fight! I shine a light on the fight to end Alzheimer’s for my wife, Beth Anderson, who I lost to this terrible disease at the age of 50, and those who are yet to be diagnosed. Please partner with me on The Longest Day, June 20th; I’ll be running nine miles around Bachman Lake in honor of my wife, the six million Americans currently living with Alzheimer’s, and the eleven million people who provide unpaid care to Alzheimer's patients to raise vital research funds and awareness. I'm asking for your support by donating to my fundraiser at: https://lnkd.in/dExbwWRk. Last year, we had 100 people donate $50 to reach $5,000. This year, my goal is to get 120 people to contribute $50, for a total of $6,000. Here is our story: https://lnkd.in/gqEkRaPp Alzheimer’s Facts: 1. 55 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s. 2. 1 in 3 seniors dies due to Alzheimer’s or another dementia. 3. 1 in 9 people aged 65 and older has Alzheimer’s. 4. Alzheimer’s kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. 5. Two thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women. 6. Eighty-three percent of the help provided to older adults in the U.S. comes from family members, friends, or other unpaid caregivers. 7. In 2023, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the nation $345 billion, and by 2050 the cost is estimated to be $1 trillion. #ENDALZ

As many of you know my husband, Aaron, was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease in March of 2023. It is a horrific disease that steals pieces of yourself away a little bit at a time. Aaron is not going down without a fight and neither am I. Every day we work hard together to implement a protocol to help slow disease progression. But so much more needs to be done. That’s why I'm participating in the 2024 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's – Washington, DC. I'm raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer's care, support and accelerated critical research. Will you help me in this fight? There are two ways you can help: 1. Walk with us — join our team and register for our local Walk on 09/28/2024: https://lnkd.in/ey-g8jqu 2. Help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation on my personal Walk page: https://lnkd.in/ey-g8jqu I would be so grateful to have your support. #endalz #walk2endalz #alzheimersdiseaseresearch #alzheimers #alzheimersblog #alzheimersawareness #alzheimersupport #alzheimerscaregiver #alzheimersadvocate #advocate #caregiver #dementia

Friends and Colleagues , I hope that this finds you well and enjoying your summer! As I shared here in the last few weeks, I was diagnosed in early 2023 with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. I’m fighting like hell to stave off this disease! The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is on September 28. I am fundraising with the Alzheimer’s Association to find a cure. Fact: In the US there are approximately 7 million people living with Alzheimer’s and by 2030 it is projected to be 8.5 million. I need your help meeting my fundraising goal of $7500. Please consider a donation toward a cure. All donations will be helpful and greatly appreciated! Below is a link to my Alz walk team site to donate and/or join our team for the walk. Also below are some facts and reasons to donate. https://lnkd.in/ebuhDPva Do you know someone who is living or lived with Alzheimer’s. Perhaps a beloved family member-a parent or grandparent, or a friend, neighbor or colleague? There is no proven way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s begins 20 or more years before memory lost. There is currently no cure. Ultimately, Alzheimer’s disease is fatal. Lifespan depends on age of diagnosis, other health conditions, lifestyle and treatments. People age 65 and older survive an average of four to eight years after a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s dementia, yet some live as long as 20 years.

Mixed emotions here to be honest. I am proud that we managed to donate money to a great charity however I woke up at 3am on Saturday, unable to get back to sleep, feeling pretty helpless and thinking how can we do more? With baby number two due at the end of June, I have been thinking more and more about the world in which they will live and it's scary. You don't need me to reel off the 1000's of daily news articles which highlight the sh*t show we are in... the climate and environment is f*cked (aware many other areas of life are in poor shape) and things need to change now. Friends, family, colleagues etc that I speak to feel the same, and as individuals, it's hard (impossible) not to feel powerless. With this in mind, and with it being Earth Day, I wanted to see if others in my network and broader reach feel the same? If we club together can we make an impact and make a difference? I am connected to thousands of business owners, and employees that want things to change... Can we pool together our yearly charity donations so it has more impact? Can we organise monthly clean-up sessions in our local area? Can we put more pressure on governments to act in the face of a climate disaster? This might get a few likes and I'll look like a tool however nothing new there... hopefully however, people will respond and share. No idea where it will take us but I do know we are powerful as a group and time is of the essence. Providing there is a response, it would be great to arrange a time to knock our heads together and come up with some next steps. Cheers, Dom #ClimateEmergency #BetterTogether #DoMore #TimeForChangeIsNow
All the team at OXBO are delighted to announce that 1% of profit from 2023 was recently donated to Alzheimer's Society. Sadly Carl M. D. Canaan recently lost his Aunt and it was decided that she would have appreciated a donation to Alzheimer's Society in memory of her father. The risk of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia increases with age, affecting an estimated 1 in 14 people over the age of 65 and 1 in every 6 people over the age of 80. Alzheimer's Society are conducting game-changing research and work, such as the recently announced Lecanemab, a drug which has been shown to slow down the decline in thinking and memory skills in people living with early Alzheimer’s disease by 27%. Hopefully, this is the first of many donations. We fully intend to give back as much as possible. OXBO #OXBO #PeopleOverProfit #GiveBack #AlzheimersSociety

Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping, and neither are we. This year, I’m participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, a cause close to my heart. The resilience and courage of those affected by this devastating disease inspire me every day to take action. By walking, I’m not just raising funds; I’m helping to support the critical work of the Alzheimer’s Association. They provide 24/7 care and support for families facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and they’re at the forefront of research to find a cure. But I can’t do this alone. I need your support to make a real impact. Here’s how you can help: Donate: Your contributions fund essential care, support, and research efforts. Register: Join me as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Share: Spread the word about this important cause and encourage others to get involved. Together, we can bring hope to millions and work towards a future free from Alzheimer’s. Please consider supporting my walk by making a donation or joining me in this cause. Your support means the world to those impacted by Alzheimer’s. Let’s make a difference together. ✨Hello it’s Meredith + Ashley with Dance2EndAlzHTX.✨ We witnessed our grandmother, Meme, succumb to Alzheimer’s in 2018. History repeated itself, with our mom, Jonette. In 2013 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2018. Our parents moved from Dallas to Houston in 2020, so we could help our dad care for her. Unexpectedly, our dad, Mike, passed away in May 2023. We believe the emotional and physical stress of being mom’s caregiver significantly contributed to our dad’s passing, as statistics show that 1 in 3 caregivers say their health has gotten worse due to their responsibilities and 25% have delayed taking care of their health. In September 2023, our mom passed away from Alzheimer’s. 💜 Anyone who has loved someone with Alzheimer’s knows that it’s a cruel thief robbing friends and family of their loved one with no cure. Knowing that our mom had the Alzheimer’s gene and that we have a chance of inheriting this horrible disease, we are channeling our energy to raise funds to help find a cure. www.dance2endalzhtx.com Phone: 713-582-4478 501c3 Non-Profit: 92-3786693 #DanceParty2EldAlzHTx #EndAlzheimers #AlzResearch #MemoryMatters #ForgetMeNot #FindACure #AlzheimersAwareness #ResearchForACure #RememberTogether #SupportAlzheimersResearch #NeverForget #HopeForACure #AlzheimersFundraiser #MemoryLossResearch #JoinTheFight #MindMatters #RememberingTheFuture #RaiseForResearch #TogetherAgainstAlzheimers #DonateToAlzheimersResearch #CureAlzheimersNow
