It's all hands on deck at the John Landy Athletics Field! 🔨 The redevelopment of the Geelong Region's athletics track is in its final stages, with the project expected to be completed within the coming weeks. The redevelopment will use more than 50 tonnes of recycled rubber as part of upgrades, from end-of-life truck tyres. CEO of City of Greater Geelong, Ali Wastie, has stated that the use of recyclable materials in Council projects is an ongoing priority: "Our Environment Strategy promotes a circular economy through sustainable procurement practices, supports new and existing markets for recovered resources, and promotes increased use of recycled materials in road, building and other infrastructure constructions.” Read more about the John Landy Redevelopment Project here: https://lnkd.in/e4abmVTr Image credit: Geelong Athletics

It's time for #Olympics2024 - and usually its the sports nuts (and insomniacs!) who are excited. But this time around it's about much more than sport. For those who are: - sustainability and impact minded - curious to see how or why a business should get invovled - unsure about how you can deliver impact without damaging your existing business Have a look into the great work of Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 - they're taking a different approach to their Olympic developments. https://lnkd.in/gnr2up9g

Thrilled to see the historic House of Fraser on Oxford Street getting a new lease on life! Publica Properties has appointed McLaren Construction to transform the space into a modern mixed-use development, blending retail, offices, restaurants, and even a gym with a pool! ️ This project isn't just about reviving a beloved landmark, it's also a prime example of sustainable development. By reusing much of the existing structure and facade, they're significantly reducing the carbon footprint. Plus, high-performance windows and centralized services will further minimize emissions. ♻️ This "retro-first" approach is exactly what we need to see more of in the construction industry. Not only does it preserve heritage, but it also creates vibrant new spaces while minimizing environmental impact. This project is a great example of how innovation and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. Repurposing existing buildings is not only good for the environment but also breathes new life into cherished landmarks. Excited to see the finished product! ✨ https://lnkd.in/eEDqTxvC #OxfordStreet #Sustainability #Retrofitting #Construction #London

⚠️ New project alert ⚠️ Tapio will calculate the carbon footprint of SOCATRA SA’s project for the new field hockey stadium in Wavre. 🏑 Expected to be finished by 2026, just in time for the Field Hockey World Cup, this stadium will welcome up to 10,000 attendees. Socatra's decision to establish a carbon report for this monumental project is a testament to how the construction industry can (and will) change. 🌱 “Today, corporate ambition counts more than ever”, affirms Hadrien Cruyt, sustainable construction consultant at SuReal, in our case study. And Socatra, a family-owned construction company with a legacy spanning three generations, is committed to leading this charge towards sustainability in the construction industry. 🏗️ After all, Socatra’s priority is to pave the way for the construction sites of the future, sites that are resilient to the challenges of climate change. As Claudia De Cesco, CEO of Socatra, said, “We don't want growth at any price. We want to be sustainable. We want a sustainable company that meets society's challenges." Thanks to Lewis Eaton, management controller at Socatra, Colin Royer, carbon expert at Tapio, and all other collaborators for making this project possible! 👏 Read more about this project ➡ https://lnkd.in/dMqXAYS6
