Urgent call to action: Ukraine needs bikes! 🚴
The war in Ukraine has disrupted transportation, impacting aid delivery. As a result, moving by bike has quickly become an indispensable means of transport.
Organised by ECF member U-cycle and five other NGOs, the international campaign #BikesForUkraine provides bikes for citizens, volunteers, and medical staff to ensure the efficient delivery of humanitarian aid, food, and medication to those in need.

Ahead of Convoy 30, we are showcasing the services of one of the regular partner NGOs that we will assist this month, Mobile Refugee Support based in Dunkirk. Their humanitarian operation is extremely precise, bespoke and tech-driven, run by three very clever people and a little dog!🐶
One amazing thing they provide for the displaced community in Dunkirk is like a version of Amazon Fresh. Rather than handing out pre-made food packs, guessing what people might want to cook or eat, migrants can request items from MRS they specifically want. If they’ve run out of cooking oil, need baby milk, chickpeas, mushrooms…they can order their shopping via an app and collect it the next day. Voila! 🛒 🍞 🥒 🥚 Not only is this an efficient way of distributing food that avoids wastage, it gives the refugees complete dignity of choice & the ability to cook and serve their own food if they wish. Cultural awareness & sensitivity in action. ❤️💪🏿
We love their personal & individualised approach. ❤️ It’s the opposite of harsh government & media rhetoric about refugees which focuses us on NUMBERS!!
Your sponsorship money means Calais Light can help NGOs like MRS, providing emergency grants and other support. Head to https://lnkd.in/eEccmkSr to sponsor Convoy 30 and give a shout out to the team!

🌍 World Humanitarian Day 2024: Honoring the Brave and the Compassionate🌍
I'm really proud to be a part of a Humanitarian Organization World Vision Lanka
Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we pause to recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication of humanitarian workers around the globe who risk their lives to help those in need.
World Humanitarian Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2008 to honor the memory of the 22 humanitarian workers who lost their lives in the bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad on August 19, 2003. Since then, it has grown into a day to recognize the tireless efforts of all those who provide life-saving assistance to millions of people, often in the most challenging and dangerous circumstances.
In 2024, the need for humanitarian action is more critical than ever. With conflicts, climate change, and natural disasters displacing millions, humanitarian workers are on the front lines, providing food, shelter, medical care, and hope to those who have lost everything. The global pandemic has only heightened the challenges they face, making their work more vital and more dangerous.
Let’s take a moment today to honor these heroes who put others before themselves, often in perilous conditions. Their bravery and compassion remind us of the power of human solidarity and the importance of supporting humanitarian efforts worldwide.
We all have a role to play. Whether through advocacy, donations, or simply spreading awareness, let's ensure that humanitarian workers receive the recognition and support they deserve. Together, we can make a difference.

❔ "How is situation different, compared to the last time we visited you?"
⚡ "Now, they can be here within a day, the frontline is only 40 kilometers away. And they won't ask us any questions".
This is what Inna and Svetlana, our partners of Patriot in #Zaporizhzia, #Ukraine, told us (Jeroen Ketting and me) 4 months ago. They run a refugee hostel in Zaporizhzia, which continuously hosts around 30 internally displaced people every month, who fled from occupied villages or have their homes destroyed.
Stories I only ever heard of, I see here with my own eyes. Although this is not a luxury hotel, it is a clean place, it's well maintained, and everything is carefully used, nothing is wasted. The focus on what is important, is crystal clear.
💡 One of the risks and averse effects of providing humanitarian aid is that the more you give, the more is used, and as you help more, the need for your help only grows. In other words: the dependency on you grows, instead of decreases.
🤝 However, with Patriot, this is not the case. As you see in the video below, the lights are switched off when not needed. Cups are preserved. Washing liquid is carefulled used. Even more, Inna and Svetlana help children with temporary education, there are volunteers who help with their homework, (despite their trauma of living under occupation at such a young age). And the difficult thing is: once you form some kind of attachment with these kids and adults, they need to move on, and the process starts over again with new refugees.
With Lifeline Ukraine, thanks to our generous donors, we help them to pay for their utilities and food. As we speak, we are starting a new project to provide them with a small transporter van, so they can take the kids to a cultural centre, or to a field and educational trip. Or, evacuate when the frontline breaks. Currently, they have a Nissan Micra.
⏲ In 1.5 weeks we visit Inna and Svetlana again. I hope their answer to the question has changed in the right direction, but I'm afraid that will not be the case.
Support LifeLine Ukraine.org in helping, where help is needed most and where large scale aid does not go, in tight collaboration with strong local partners.

𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐢𝐝= 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬!
𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐬. #𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!
Just the other day, I was wondering what happened to Samantha Power, #USAID Administrator.
Back during the TPLF terrorist war (20-22) in Ethiopia, she was the angel of doom and gloom daily preaching fire and brimstone to Ethiopians about human rights violations, #famine, #genocide.
How ironic. #Gaza and the Silence of the Power Luna Wolf!
So, no name “@USAID
Assistant to the Administrator @USAIDBHALead
” shows up with a check for “$80 million in additional funds for humanitarian assistance in #Ethiopia.”
What the hell is “humanitarian assistance” anyway?
Umm!
It is good old handouts! Alms. Charity. Dole. Free Lunch (Is there such a thing?).
Handouts are for beggars.
For Bli-Dens (Blinken-Biden administration) Ethiopia is a pitiable object of charity, a beggar nation!
I wonder sometimes how it feels to turn up one’s nose and smugly say to oneself, “We threw $80 million at Ethiopian beggars!”
The whole object of Bli-Den’s policy in Ethiopia is to keep Ethiopia destabilized, in conflict, poor and in a perpetual state of panhandling.
𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬.
If Bli-Dens could spend 10% of the 80 million to promote investments and keep the rest, Ethiopia would be in a much better position.
But the Bli-Den’s policy is to give Ethiopians stinkin’ dead fish, never to teach them how to angle for fresh fish.
Talking about investments (handups), does anyone have a clue who built the dozen or so massive industrial parks in Ethiopia?
How about the tens of thousands of kilometers of roads?
And them gleaming skyscrapers?
I wonder who built the magnificent and breathtaking public parks in Addis Ababa?
Umm!
Did somebody say, “debt trap?”
I’d rather spend a millennium in “debt trap” than become a wretched beggar panhandling for alms until kingdom come.
Ambassador Massinga tweets, “$80 million in additional funds for humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia.”
You don’t say!
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 $𝟖𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬.
The bulk of the “$80 million in additional funds for humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia” is actually handout to the so-called non-profit organizations, multilateral organizations and overpaid and underworked consultants and experts.
