Owners: "Nobody wants to join the trades......" Young folks: “I don’t have enough experience to get a construction job.” I’ve heard both sides of the story. And I’m siding with the young guns on this post… I came across this post recently (screenshot). It’s a young business owner writing this. They’re already making money, wanting to leave it all to join the trades. He's using his free time to get OSHA-30 certified and trying to find a way to get his foot in the door. The guy is HUNGRY! And it’s what we all look for in our industry. But before you say, "nobody is joining the trades." Remember this post. They're out there. And when they show up knocking on your door… Don’t turn them down because they’re “too green.” Believe it or not… I’ve talked to construction business owners that hired folks from McDonald’s and Starbucks eager to learn. And they go on to become one of their best employees. With that being said… Be the person who hires for hunger and attitude. Don't be the person who wants 78yrs of experience and blames it on "nobody wanting to join the trades". We (the industry) must become a better bridge between the desire to join the trades and the path to making that a reality. Hiring the person that has the attitude of "I'll figure it out" (even if they're a bit green) will become a great asset. Open the door. Become the solution. #trades #construction #hammr

Placing skilled workers in employment opportunities and watching them thrive is hands-down the best part of our job. Resilience, Caring, and Integrity: The Heartbeat of Tulmar Safety Systems. These aren’t just our company’s core values—they’re the values that have shaped my own journey, long before I ever joined the team at Tulmar. I still remember the day I stepped off the plane, a student in a brand-new country with nothing but a suitcase and a dream. It was a leap of faith, leaving behind everything familiar to chase opportunities on the other side of the world. Excitement was mixed with a healthy dose of fear. How would I navigate this new life, far from the comfort of home? Resilience became my daily companion. It wasn’t just about enduring; it was about thriving in the face of uncertainty. Each new challenge—learning a new language, finding my way in a foreign city, making connections—was an opportunity to grow stronger and more determined. Caring showed up in unexpected ways. Whether it was the kindness of strangers who became friends or the support I found from those back home, I realized that caring isn’t just about empathy; it’s about building a community, even when you’re far from everything you’ve ever known. And integrity? It was my guiding star. In a new world, it was tempting to stray from my principles, but I held on to the values that were instilled in me from a young age. I learned that true integrity means staying true to yourself, even when no one is watching. Now, as part of the HR team at Tulmar Safety Systems, I bring these lessons with me every day. When I meet potential candidates, I’m not just looking for skills on a resume. I’m looking for the resilience to bounce back from setbacks, the care to build meaningful connections, and the integrity to do what’s right, even when it’s hard. If your story aligns with these values, let’s connect. I’d love to hear how your journey has shaped you and how we can build something great together at Tulmar. #Recruiting #CoreValues #HR #Hiring #Culture

Why do we retain our staff so well at Green Fox Cleaning, and why do cleaners from other companies that have friend working for us want to join us? ✅ We always pay over the minimum wage. ✅ Our staff get 24/7 free access to a GP. ✅ The GP access is for their family also. ✅ Our staff get thousands of store discounts. ✅ Our staff are trained to do their jobs. ✅ Our staff get good tools to do their jobs. ✅ We offer genuine career progression. ✅ Our staff don’t have to travel miles to work. ✅ Plus lots more. It’s really not rocket science that if you look after and show appreciation to your staff, you’ll need to recruit less often for the same roles. #staffappreciation #staffretention #commercialcleaning

Office politics or job snobbery? Do you treat anyone differently just because of their job role, are you treated differently because of your own job role? How can we overcome predefined views of people just by the job they do and more importantly how can we change the views of colleagues who we perceive as having a higher job role than us? How much talent are we missing just because someone does a lesser role? Hands up, who has been surprised by someone who we thought as being below us on the job ladder? Personal experience from meeting such people has taught me to be open minded and to allow people to feel comfortable in talking about other interests or skills that they have, think about their job, could you do it, do you have the skills to do it? As a helpdesk agent I have to convince people that, no i don't read from a template, and no, i dont always say have you turned it off and on? (sometimes this does help though). Free help from a helpdesk agent or £150 an hour for a consultant, which one are you going to take more notice of? what if the information you received was the same? This article reminds us of the more extremes in views. https://lnkd.in/egHyx-Zk
