On World Tourism Day, I would like to share a small endeavor in transforming India’s Tourism space. As part of ‘Holistic Development of Package III Islands in Lakshadweep’, IPE Global in collaboration with NITI Aayog and UT Administration, embarked on a journey to strengthen India’s maritime economy and position Lakshadweep as a global tourist destination. The outcome - India’s first Premium Water Villas project with an estimated cost of INR 480 Cr leased out to IHCL group on PPP basis in Suheli and Kadmat Islands. This outcome was the result of five years of relentless efforts dedicated to ideating a ground-breaking product offering and improving the investment climate. We conceived India’s first water villas offering a strong/compelling tourist product, designed captive infrastructure to reduce Government expenditure, strategized regulatory reforms to facilitate investments & promote sustainable development, undertook India’s first upfront clearances and carried out robust product marketing efforts to seal the deal. Key Takeaway – Identify bottlenecks impeding tourism development, think out-of-the-box, and design “your” contextual solutions to unleash the power of tourism!
