If an Indistry does not have the permit support of national & local governance, how can we realistically solve any climate problems ? Permitting should be the easy part. If an individual or their company has a proven track record of designing, building and operating a Green Energy Project, then a permit should be a formality not a barrier.
We appreciate the call out from Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources Chairman Joe Manchin (I-WV) on ACP’s support for the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024—pivotal legislation to bring more clean, reliable, and affordable power to American businesses & consumers.

Breaking!!! 🚨 🚨 By a vote of 15-4, Senator Manchin's and Senator Barrasso's Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 passed the U.S. Senate on Energy and Natural Resources Committee earlier today. The bipartisan bill aims to expedite federal authorizations for energy and mineral projects by shortening timelines before, during, and after litigation, while preserving existing rights for judicial review. It introduces a 150-day statute of limitations from the date of the final agency action on a project, requires courts to expedite the review of legal challenges, and mandates federal agencies to act on remanded authorizations within 180 days. If passed in the Senate, this bipartisan legislation could mark a significant advancement in accelerating permitting processes and providing greater certainty for energy and mineral projects in the U.S., while maintaining essential protections for the environment and affected communities. I believe one of the best decisions made by Essential Services Commission in 2024 is banning telemarketing and door knocking under the VEU program. As a cybersecurity analyst, I recognize how vulnerable customer data can be when provided to third-party companies and door knockers. However, I would also recommend reviewing the Solar Victoria rebate approval process. This process requires sensitive documents such as pensioner cards, driving licenses, passports, ATO assessment notices, and electricity bills. With this amount of data, there is a significant risk of data theft by assessors. It is crucial to address this issue, as it poses a greater risk to customer security than door knocking.
We have released our 2024–25 compliance and enforcement priorities for energy and the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, with a focus on protecting Victorian consumers. We will work with businesses to help them understand and comply with their obligations, monitor compliance and may take significant enforcement action against businesses that do not comply.
