Today is World Lung Day! ❓Did you know? 468 million people are living with chronic respiratory conditions globally, while 14% of kids worldwide are diagnosed with asthma, the most common chronic respiratory disease in childhood. Chronic respiratory diseases are often overlooked in global health discussions and lack the resources they need. It's time to change that! The EU-project #LungHealth4Life will integrate lung health checks, known as spirometry or lung function tests, with health promotion and disease prevention in schools. It will also identify and address societal and health inequalities that contribute to lung diseases and premature death. Join our LH4L Community of Practices to be up-to-date with all the projects’ updates and engage in discussions https://lnkd.in/eGw4ShzM #RespiratoryHealth #WorldLungDay #LH4L #EU4Health European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) European Lung Foundation European Respiratory Society European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients' Associations (EFA) OKPI - Országos Korányi Pulmonológiai Intézet Associação Portuguesa de Medicina Geral e Familiar - APMGF

🎉Exiting news! The LungHealth4Life website has officially launched! LungHealth4Life is an EU-funded project that aims to encourage children to look after their lungs from a young age. It will introduce the concept of lung health tests in schools, alongside lessons that teach about the importance of lung health. Many long-term lung conditions begin in childhood and by encouraging early behavioral changes to reduce exposure to risk factors, we can safeguard our lung health. Visit the website to learn more about the project and get involved: 🔗www.lunghealth4life.eu #LH4L #LungHealth4Life #RespiratoryHealth #EU4Health European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) Associação Portuguesa de Medicina Geral e Familiar - APMGF European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients' Associations (EFA) European Respiratory Society European Lung Foundation OKPI - Országos Korányi Pulmonológiai Intézet

On #WorldLungDay, we celebrate the vital role of our lungs in helping us #KeepBreathing. Yet, millions of Europeans continue to suffer from preventable lung diseases 🌍 This is a #respiratory crisis we cannot ignore. Healthy lungs are essential for resilient societies, and it’s time to act. 📢 The European Lung Health Group calls for a strong #lunghealth policy to protect and empower all patients: 🛡 Europe must address education gaps, improve #AirQuality, eradicate smoking, and increase early screening and #vaccination efforts. ⏰ Timely and accessible care is essential for patients with #lungdiseases, including early diagnosis, treatment, and continuous follow-up. 🔎 We also need stronger investments in patient-centric #research and innovation to match the burden of #lungdisease with effective solutions for prevention and care. The unknown killer ... over 11 milion people die every year of the consequence of a severe infection, and most of the survivors are left with significant sequelae. Sepsis is a public health problem, with a very significant impact, but most people don't realize this. With a better understanding of the pathophysiology of sepsis, due to the dysregulated responses of the body to the infectious agent, new therapies have emerged, and the future will surely bring new approaches, including modulation of immune response and of coagulation. But most of the patients will certainly not have access to these, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, so that the basics must be prioritized: prevention, early identification, immediate source control, antibiotics (with stewarship), and appropriate organ support are key to save lives!
