Improving at public speaking often involves facing public failures. It's a cliché, yet undeniably true—we learn best by doing, with success often being the result of countless hours of practice. Recently, I had the privilege of anchoring a panel discussion at the Academic Counseling Seminar (ACS) on the topic of "Research Based Academia and its Influence on Catalyzing the National Economy." The session featured two remarkable speakers: Professor Amuda and Dr. Ayodele Shittu. Despite the vastness of the topic, the speakers delivered their insights effectively. Professor Amuda impressed me with his professionalism and innovative contributions to both the university and society at large. He highlighted the significant impact of various academic endeavors on societal development, lamenting the lack of an efficient reward system from the government. This session left a profound impact on me, sparking reflections on how to apply the lessons learned to my own field of study. It underscored the importance of academic research in driving economic growth and societal progress, while also highlighting the need for better recognition and support for academic contributions. As I move forward, I am inspired to contribute meaningfully to academia and society, armed with the valuable insights gained from this enlightening discussion. #acs #mssn #mssnunilag #acs2024 #acsmssnunilah

Excited for my upcoming #EAIE workshop with Dr. Melanie Agnew and Eveke De Louw! Consider joining us at the EAIE: European Association for International Education Annual Conference in #Toulouse for our workshop titled: Great minds think differently: A disciplinary approach to engage #academics in #curriculum #internationalisation ***Description*** Curriculum internationalisation (IoC), a complex academic process that is vital for campus-wide global engagement, relies heavily on academic staff. Engaging faculty beyond a few champions has been historically challenging. This is a well-known problem. Workshop participants will analyse academic disciplines, using 25 years of research-based practices, and create discipline-specific communication strategies to boost faculty involvement in internationalising the curriculum. ***Learning Outcomes*** This workshop will help you: - Gain a deep understanding of the unique disciplinary features in the four (hard/soft, pure/applied) categories, and understand how they each uniquely manifest in IoC - Analyse how these disciplinary features inform IoC communication strategies across each of the disciplinary categories - Develop discipline-specific communication strategies which can be used immediately ***Who is it for?*** This workshop is particularly relevant for internationalisation officers, educational developers, and academics who are involved in leading curriculum internationalisation. ***Register Here*** https://lnkd.in/dQGMPKZz #intled #ioc #iah #iocah #globallearning #globalhighered #profdev #internationalization #NAFSA24 #France #highered

20th CIMQUSEF International Conference on Quality in Education. Overarching theme: Social and Emotional Learning (SEL): A Pillar in Strategies for Education Transformation. 🌟Presentation Recap 🌟 I'm thrilled to share my presentation from November 2023, delivered via Zoom at the 20th CIMQUSEF conference. The presentation focused on the intriguing topic of common-sense deprivation syndromes and their impact on multiple vital intelligences. 📚 Presentation Focus: This ongoing research explores the hypothesis that educational deficiencies are related to a deprived flow of common sense. Interestingly, these deficiencies can be found even in the best educational institutions. 🔍 Study Highlights: Common-Sense Examination: A theoretical study examining various facets of "common sense" and its expressions. Critical Comparison: A comparative analysis with other prominent educational and learning theories, including those of Skinner, Chomsky, Gestalt, Piaget, and Edgar Morin. 💡 Key Insights: By understanding the role of common-sense deprivation in education, we can uncover new approaches to enhance learning experiences and address educational gaps. I was excited to share these insights and engage in a vibrant discussion with attendees. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the dialogue. Your thoughts and feedback are always welcome! #Research #Education #CommonSense #LearningTheories #EducationalDevelopment #InnovationInEducation Day 2: Thursday 16 November 2023
