A project which demonstrates that when the client and specialist contractor are prepared to work together as a team installation issues and setbacks can be overcome. This project found the ground to have a STP-N above 50 which required both parties agree to a change to the method of installation and introduce engineered designed tooling to allow the pilot head to be steered and the auger head to cut through the strong layered mudstone. This design change combined with changes to the installation procedure as increased the confidence for the use of guided auger boring in challenging ground conditions.
