ClimateUEA are pleased to share this wonderful poem written by Professor Sam Illingworth (Department of Learning & Teaching Enhancement Edinburgh Napier University) which was inspired by Dr Peter Sheehan and Professor Karen Heywood’s (University of East Anglia, School of Environmental Sciences) study on the Ross Ice Shelf released last month. The research revealed for the first time how a major Antarctic ice shelf has been subjected to increased melting by warming ocean waters over the last four decades. The study, which was a result of their autonomous Seaglider getting accidentally stuck underneath the Ross Ice Shelf - suggests this will likely only increase further as climate change drives continued ocean warming.
